Anyone who is using the Bonnet App, here are three (working as of today) codes for 100% discount, thus three free electron refills if paid for via the app. Just popped up on a French EV group, have tried them on our app and all have been accepted.

ND3FB
FREECHARGE1
FIRSTCHARGE
SPEAKEVBNT (this one only works if you have not already used a free refill discount such as FULLYCHARGED)

Bon chance!

Thank you, I will add 1 and 3 (already got 2 and 4) to my wallet but wondering if the FIRSTCHARGE one will work if you have already done a charge.

Who knows? We don't have many chargers here in LBF that are connected to Bonnet, but they do work for the notoriously expensive IONITY chargers here on the motorways which charge by the minute rather than kW, so next time we do a long journey we'll give it a go.

This will be useful as Bonnet covers the Shell Recharge group, well certainly Shell, and they have just put up their prices to 55p/kWh

Just tried to add these and ND3FB gives 3 free charges but is only for new users, same as FIRSTCHARGE.

Might try and add another user on my wife's phone :)

Wow, what a great (set of) deals!

I wasn't aware of the Bonnet app but now installed and got the first code from the app website. Along with the first three codes listed in the first post I now have 100% off my first five charges! The final code needs the user to make a regular "Refill" payment and that's not something I want/need to do, at the moment at least.

Many thanks to @JohnInFrance

Interesting. So can anyone in the UK confirm what chargers this will work with? I see Shell Recharge/Shell mentioned. Thanks :)

Morning - I installed the app and the used the first 3 codes the other day and this has given me 5 free charges in my 'wallet'. "emmrecs" posted that the 4th code requires you to agree to monthly payments (what they call 'refills') but as I'm only going to be using this app infrequently, I don't need to pay a monthly direct debit so didn't try the last code but the first 3 worked fine for me.

Thanks to JohnInFrance for sharing (y)

If you download and install the Bonnet app it includes a full list of all the chargers, both locally and nationally, that you can use it with.

OK, downloaded the app and set up an account without entering payment details. Once the codes above are added, are they valid forever or do they expire? I saw some stuff about usage resets so not sure if that means the codes have to be used by that time. Thanks again.

I honestly don't know!

I suspect they will eventually expire, hopefully not before I've had chance to use at least some of them.

Perhaps someone who has had the app for some time might care to comment?

Right, like many others I have applied the codes for 5 free charges. Couple of chargers near me - supermarket and pub. Will try them in the week! Thanks to @JohnInFrance for sharing and others for sharing info (y)

Good luck. All the chargers they support in France are quite a way from us, so hoping the codes don't expire too soon as we will certainly be passing those chargers in a month or so and free electrons always make me smile.

What code gives you 5 free chargers?
Hi BillyWhizz - the first code (ND3FB) gives you 3 free charges and the next 2 codes (FREECHARGE1 and FIRSTCHARGE) each give you another free charge, so you get 5 free charges in your wallet in the app.

P.S. Just got the wife to install the app and the codes are still working!

If they have an expiry date it will show in your wallet.

Can use Osprey, Shell, Geniepoint, Alfa are the ones I know.

OK, so earlier this morning I used the Bonnet app for the first time with a free code. I charged on a CCS charger - first time also - operated by Geniepoint. According to the Bonnet app I used 32kWh and went from a range of 20 miles to 93% charged in about an hour and 15 minutes, not that I was particularly timing it. Here are some observations:
  • I had to set up a payment method before I could charge for free.
  • I messed up the start charge procedure - I plugged in the charging gun before I started in the app. This led to "connected but not charging" being displayed on my dash. I followed the procedure again, and after a few false starts and pulling out the gun/putting it back in, I started the charge in the app. Still got the "not charging" message! I was not having fun - it was cold, dark and raining. I tried calling Geniepoint support, got a message saying it wasn't available, then I noticed the LCD display on the charger with a not-very-visible-to-me "start charge" button. I hit that and off we went. Doh!
  • I just sat in the car surfing the internet on my phone whilst charging. It's annoying the amount of charge completed isn't displayed by default - I had to to turn the car on and off for this to be displayed (gen1).
  • Another car pulled up next to mine to charge when I was at 93% and connected to the (I think) 7Kw. When that charge started, mine stopped! I don't know if that was by design as I was at 93% or due to a fault with the charger. Of course I'm aware of the etiquette to leave at 80% but this was early in the morning, no-one waiting and I wanted my money's worth (free!).
  • Overall a fairly easy procedure, I'm sure I'll get slicker with it once I've used CCS a few more times.
  • The app appears to have correctly deducted one of my free charges.
Hope that is of use to someone.
