MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Picked up our ex-demo SR yesterday and cancelled the LR order. Loving it. The deal for the LR Trophy was 34k and the SR Trophy 90 days old with 2500 miles on it was 26k Saved 8 grand and got the car we test drove 1 week later. They couldn't sell it til it was 90 days old.
It wasn't even for sale, we just landed at the right place at the right time.
Phone around the MG dealers and ask if they've any ex demos for sale.

(late January order) Just heard back from Vanarama - They have spoken to the dealer who had previously advised September at the latest (possibly earlier), after originally saying April. They're now saying September at the earliest - it won't be before that, may end up later. I may end up having to cancel and going for a lesser used car because of the inflated prices :(

Just had the anticipated confirmation from Macklin Motors MG Edinburgh that my red Trophy LR (ordered mid-March and initially estimated for July) is now showing on their system as due in September. They did say they were still expecting some SRs and MG5s next month, so seems consistent with other dealers who are seeing the biggest delays with LRs.

Given that I can’t charge at home, range is high priority for me so I’ll be waiting for the LR. Though I’ve had to hand back my leased Hyundai Kona EV and will be taking delivery of a monthly lease Renault Zoe ZE50 from ONTO tomorrow to tide me over, so I’ll have a chance to see how I cope with the shorter range on that.

Yeah I feel everyone is giving September for delivery. Well in a way we will get the new reg if it is the case. Good one for going with ONTO. I hope you used a referral code to get £50 off. Zoe is a great car tbh, especially now we are heading to Summer, you should easily be able to get 175+ miles on range. ONTO will give you 3 charge cards from Shell, BP Pulse and Instavolt. Create an account on the Shell recharge app and link the fleet card so you can use all the chargers that are app only like ubitricity, char.gy and some geniepoints. Oh also, I know ONTO's excess insurance is quite a bit so make sure you have £1000 sitting with you in case the worst was to happen. However, on the bright side either you could get the excess cover from them or if you plan on sticking with ONTO for a few months (basically until the MG arrives) then maybe you could consider getting I4CH excess insurance cover. They basically cover the £1000 ONTO charge. You would need to pay ONTO £1000 and once ONTO send you the bill you claim it back from I4CH. The cover is valid for a year and tbh it works out really good and can be used for other short term hire vehicles as well from the likes of enterprise, Hertz and all. To make it even cheaper you could sign up to topcashback ( referral link to get an additional £25 I think if you don't have an account with top cashback - TopCashback.co.uk: The UK’s #1 Cashback & Vouchers Site) and claim 25% off your first policy.

Well let's see what response you get to your post. This will be interesting, thanks for the info though I appreciate it.

Or the dealers running out of ways to make money with no car to sell 🤣
They are not getting stock, but demo cars have a limited period and milage as a demo, at which point it can be sold as a new car. Over that time and milage it becomes a used car and is devalued. So they sell them before that happens.

Following my LR order at the end of November, Tunbridge Wells MG still have no idea when it will be arriving. So frustrating.
Yeah, my order is with them too and now when I call them, they always find an excuse to say they are with a customer so I don't have any updates. A little bit of assurance would be nice. Even though I'm sure it might get pushed ahead. Something to look forward to. At this point I'm just like you have no idea when to expect the car.

Hello everyone,

Stumbled across this forum which has been so insightful.

I ordered a SR ZS EV from Nathanials, Bridgend South Wales. Back in December 21.

Spoke to them today and they advised mines been built and is awaiting shipment for July.

Should I take this with a pinch of salt? As like most of us, my PCP ends in July and I've not got a lot of options if the MG isn't ready.

Work use Nathaniel's and generally they seem ok compared to some dealers for other marques but they are all sales people and will generally tell you what you want to hear 🙂

On a positive note I saw not one but two MG ZS EVs today (facelift), one red and one blue. Both were supplied by Nathaniel's, first ones I've seen in the flesh, they did look good I have to say 🤞

We've ordered our car from Tunbridge Wells, but got chatting to a rep from Nathanials a couple of months ago at the Bridgend Designer Outlet about the delays etc.

They showed us their spreadsheet showing orders with status attached such as those that were 'At sea' etc. They were very open with the data and certainly seemed to have good visibility of each car. I was a bit skeptical, but anecdotally watching the forum, it seemed those cars turned up, hopefully the same will be true for you - although until at sea it could still be hit by circumstances in China.

I ordered from TW as well, they were quite open about my car status, they sent me a screenshot of the status but no name on the screenshot or other specific details relating to my order, so it could be anyones really (but im trying not to be cynical 🤨).
Also it shows order was placed in December, but dealer said it didnt get pushed through till January, so not sure what that means either, if anyone understands that please clarify for me. Ive kind of given up asking my dealership any more questions because it doesn’t get me closer to knowing anything more, just creates more questions. Just going to have to be patient and hopefully get the car before the end of this year 🤲🏻
By the way ive attached the screenshot for your amusement 😆

Hi all,
Odd one for you, I am looking for suggestions. My order is placed around end of Dec 2022 for LR Trophy connect directly through a dealership. But no delivery date at sight and also MG UK said the same.
I changed my job around same time and just recently finished probation period. Now that allows me to use company salary sacrifice scheme, I think by Zenith. It does have good package for same LR Trophy connect compared to direct dealership package. They are advising 23week lead time through Zenith. Do I cancel direct order and go for salary sacrifice, what would be impact on the order que? Financially sure this is better but I am more concerned about delivery date. I do need car before end of this year. Any suggestions?? Do MG UK strictly following order que, first come first serve??

Don't forget if you leave your job before the lease ends you pay a penalty of 40% of the remaining lease payments.

I haven't seen anything from Tunbridge Wells (except for the generic emails saying they don't know anything). I haven't chased my order as understand they know as much - or possibly less than we do on the forum!

The orders I saw were Nathanials but presumably TWs are tracking in the same way. It was just an interesting conversation with the Nathanials rep as there was no sales opportunity so seemed quite genuine.

I ordered 2 days after you (7th December). Worrying if they didn't put the orders through until January (depending on what that means) as we got in before the grant situation changed. I'm hoping that doesn't create an issue down the line when we eventually get the cars!

Can you do both and see which one arrives first?
