Don't get too hung up by the MPH KPH difference as all modern car ECUs work in KPH and the instrument cluster converts that to MPH for us!I could be wrong but I thought TBA was ‘To Be Advised’
We are told that they build batches of cars and you would hope that they have a basic understanding of what is on order before they commence the production run. For instance if they have no orders for SR SE models in blue you would assume that they would make something different, especially if they wanted to get them sold. I reckon that they could have an order book of over 5,000 cars with customers names against. If they don’t want stock laying around, just sort out all the cars on order. There are only 6 variants with 5 different colours. That means 30 different spec/colour cars leave China for UK market that are RHD and have MPH speedo’s. We therefore have a 1 in 30 chance that our car is being made.
Thinking about it RHD cars are KMH everywhere else - Malta / Ireland / Cyprus / India / Australia so production runs for UK are very specialised.
Am just hoping that with the hold on new orders being placed it is a sign that the cars will come through soon. We have seen a few members being given delivery dates for LR models now which is promising.
If you were particularly inclined you could change your instrument cluster from MPH to KPH when crossing over from Northern Ireland into Eire on the border! A few button presses and hey presto!
Any car with a digital dash this is a simple task.
I hired a Nissan Micra in France and turned into a UK car including showing me miles per gallon! I did put it back to a French car when I returned it I hasten to add!
