MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

That’s my dealer too….maybe mine is in - I doubt it! But here’s hoping!!
Fingers crossed! Picked mine up this morning but sorry to say I didn't see any other new ones lying around.

First impressions very good but also very different from my previous Kona. Spent the last couple of hours getting to grips with all the different controls and screens. Yet to get a consistent Apple Car Play connection but it does work sometimes. The iSmart app is definitely better than the Kona equivalent.

Thanks - will discuss with Motability on Friday when they call me. Will be really interesting to see response. Still amazed that a dealer can offer a car that was removed off the scheme weeks ago.
I don't think that the SR was removed from the scheme, at least the dealer never mentioned that.
They said that the LR was not longer included by Motability.

When I no longer saw the Short Range on the Motability website, I assumed they were possibly updating the list for July but I assumed that the contract with the dealer would be binding until the end of June, hence my phonecall to the dealer. I was glad I made the call, as it is very likely the prices will increase in July, and there is no guarantee that the car/s will still be available again.

As I don't usually do many miles per year, the Short Range should suit me well. Then, I do have any idea how much more the LR version would cost. I acted on instinct, let's hope I chose well.

I had been looking at "onto" and "elmo" EV car subscriptions to "tie" me over until my MG ZS EV Trophy Long Range is delivered from Vanarama.

Interestingly, today on the Elmo website they suddenly have MG ZS SE Long Range EV's available in both black or white. They had 3 of each available. I opted for a black one to tie me over and was allocated a registration number too. Delivery is 25th July.

Things to note, the included insurance excess is £1k unless you opt to pay an extra £15 a month to bring it down to £250. Additional drivers are £10 a month each. Delivery charge for me based in Leeds is £115 and this will also be the collection charge. Plus they charge a one off £95 admin fee. You can cancel without penalty prior to delivery of the vehicle. So if my Vanarama one suddenly turns up then no bother.

If anyone else decides they may want to take this approach to tie them over then please use my code (below) for £50 off your first months subscription (I'll also get £50 too). This can be inputted on the final page before you pay for the first month plus delivery and admin fee upfront. I used a credit card for extra protection.

It also reinforces the narrative that Long Range cars are indeed being delivered, and not only to private buyers but also "lease/sub" comapnies. Albeit in small numbers.
I'd be interested but they don't seem to have available stock anymore?

Just out of interest, i checked Elmo and found this. Good idea for those unfortunate whom have been left without a car, whilst awaiting delivery for their ordered MG. Also a fair few more on there should you not be fussy re: what you have. Great post from Kevkdg, could well suit some on here.

Sorry just noted…..coming soon!! Still maybe others, as I suggested, that could be a stop gap.

Yep, Elmo only had 3 white and 3 black when I enquired. I took one of the black ones. I got issued an actual registration number too, which I checked on the DVLA MOT checker website and it was correct. So will defo get it as a tie me over car on 25th July. Looks like they have all been allocated now and we all know what "Coming Soon" might mean with MG cars lol!!

Did anyone on here manage to order an Elmo one to tie them over also, if so did you use my code?

I was going to do this, but given the difficulty of getting Euro cover quickly and the overall costs, I've just bought a £3k Honda CRV that I'll resell when it arrives. Depreciation likely to be less than the Onto payments.

Current lease EV goes back this Friday.

Another great idea!!

I may well be in this position in January!!! Lol

however, I will probably just end up using my gas guzzling, much fun, current weekend car, my Z3 2.8 mortgage fuel payment car for a few weeks 😂

So just sent a email to the dealership asking a few questions, when was the car ordered by them, I ordered it 17/12/21, will MG honour the sunroof orders, before MG stop making them and has the bloody car been built yet?

I‘ll let you know what response is…if your interested..

I got a call from Tusker this morning. The SR Trophy Connect I ordered in January is being delivered to me next Weds, 6th July.

My first EV, exciting, but I will miss the Ford Focus, it was a lovely car to drive.
I think you may be the first to mention getting a ZS through a lease, albeit the SR rather than the LR.

Just wondered if anyone managed to get a car from Octopus.... I think I'll give them a call tomorrow just to check.... Though I doubt if I'll get any news. Car ordered by octopus in Nov and I booked January as pre-order!

Frustrating... I do get the LR SE from Elmo in July as a mid term solution.

I ordered my car from Octo in March and was told September delivery. I checked a few weeks ago and they claimed to have spoken to my dealer who was still confident of a September delivery. I have asked them who the dealer is. I'll believe that delivery date when I see it though!

It does look good - pricing will be key. Best put down a deposit now, or you'll be dust & bone before you get one.
Just read up on mg4 they say starter price under 30k.

Also Renault are trialing a hybrid hydrogen /battery senic that will be capable of 500 ml. range.

I have been waiting since November for trophy connect. First I was told December and they keep pushing it back. I have estimated date 1st September, has anyone received a car from them

I think they are high and drunk to be suggesting 6 months lead time now.

Both are fantasies.

At the rate MG can get cars out of the door, by the time we have another year of inflation and shortages they won’t be coming in at under £30K. The cheapest id3 with zero options is now £36K for comparison.

The Renault thing is a pipe dream. There’s no way they can manufacture that in numbers to make financial sense in a Scenic. It might come as a very pricey unobtanium thing, but nothing more.

I'm sceptical it'll be under £30k, but I really hope it is. If they edge it up to the £35k mark, they'll face a lot of competition.

Next ships in with potential MGs aboard:

  • Adriatic Highway - due 25th June
  • Cape Town Highway - due 30th June
  • Galveston Highway - due 11th July
  • Viking Adventure - due 27th July - she hasn't stopped in Shanghai yet (and may not!) - but this is a usual MG delivery vessel, so one to keep an eye on over the next week to see where she goes after her visit to Japan.
Two down, two to go. I'm interested in any big August drops...I'm foolishly hoping for an early September delivery.

Vanarama is extending expected delivery date from september to January 2023 for orders placed in November 21 🤯

OMG - Did they phone you, text or email. Wonder if that is because they have no real idea or whether January 2023 actually means something! I appreciate Vanarama are at the hands of the Dealership they ordered through, who in turn are at the hands of MG.

I called them. They said ohh its still september on the file but realistically we dont expect the dealer to honour that so January it will be after that. Apparently reason behind that is too many orders placed
