MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Galveston Highway is steaming on its way though- due to arrive 11th July 🙂
Yeah I know, I've been tracking her, she left Barcelona yesterday afternoon en-route to Antwerp eta 2/7/22. I'm hoping my black se lr is on her as my dealer phoned me 12 days ago to say my car is at sea according to his computer 🙏🙏🙏

Just looked at ship Goodwood - arrives 22nd July at Portbury - was in Shanghai on 17th June for 13 hours. Stopped at Singapore on 24th June and currently on route to Jordan.

I hate to tell you but your dealer DOESN'T know which ship your car is on, just that its at sea as I asked Miles, who is a forum member that works for Chorley group, and he told me that they aren't told which ship.
Poor ‘Grumpy’ is going to be ‘F in Grumpy’ now. There are a few ships en route to Portbury from Shanghai - let’s hope that all our cars are on these 🤞

Wonder if whoever you spoke to is confusing you with expected delivery on new orders as that's the lead time on their website at the moment.
I thought on those lines too and reconfirmed with him but nope, apparently too many orders on MG books causing the delay. I can see the 5-6 months delivery time on new orders which is ridiculous to say the least unless they have changed their dealer.. who knows 🥴

I will not bother watching for ships for a while. MG UK have just emailed me that my TBA really is TBA after checking my order number : -

Upon checking with the relevant department, we can confirm your order is currently on shortage awaiting factory build, until production has been confirmed, we cannot confirm an exact arrival date.

My order was placed 5th Jan, Blue LR Trophy.

Maybe next week will get a call to say it has arrived at the dealer, but then again, maybe not.

Never know if the refresh Motability list that will be issued tomorrow has some new cars that are suitable, my car might be on the Emerald Leader?

Update from my dealer today 😔

The vehicle is still showing TBA.
MG have advised a rough waiting time of 9 months from point of order so should be no later than October.
Fingers crossed it will turn up sooner than that.

Quote from email to me from MG UK on 14th June : -

In addition, for MG orders that were placed in January the estimated lead time would be 8 months, but subject to change, which could be even sooner once the production has commenced.

The last ship that arrived left Shanghai on 1st June and arrived today. That is 4 weeks including stops.
To work out minimum delivery time allow 2 weeks to manufacture / deliver to port and load on ship.
Then 2 weeks to unload / ship to dealer / PDI.
We are therefore looking at 2 months minimum delivery time.
They need to start manufacture next week to hit 8 month. To hit 9 month delivery they need to start manufacture next month.
Confidence level- currently very low.
Especially when Cars2 at Barnsley are advertising 2 in stock for immediate delivery and a number of other dealers claiming to have stock orders coming soon.
The larger dealers have a lot more clout when it comes to getting cars from MG UK. Unfortunately I chose a small dealer close to home and they have no voice with MG to get a single LR car - even on the orders placed in November last year. Rant over - let’s see what happens?

Well that’s mine estimated for 2023 then. 😂

Several more months of my eldest kicking me in the back as she has no room

I’m going to presume that the two available with Cara2 Barnsley are due to cancelled orders from the lack of grant, due to their error in not requesting it when the car was ordered. I know someone on Facebook said their car has arrived but grant was denied, so they couldn’t take the car.

As much as I don’t like waiting with no end in sight, I’d more annoyed if my car arrived and I couldn’t have it due to some admin error.

Info from my dealer so please don’t shoot me if I am wrong - My car was not eligible for grant.
As I understand what I was told - the grant is applied for when the car is ordered. When delivery is taken, the grant is either approved or declined by the government. My dealer has only had one grant application and that was approved. Not sure what the criteria is and why a grant would be declined. I know a previous post had theirs declined?

Spoke with Octopus today... They basically said not to hold fingers for September delivery and that most likely it will be after September! Very disappointing.

Had a quick look at @Oakers spreadsheet. 31% (12/39) of Nov orders delivered, 18% (7/38) of Dec and 9% (3/32) of Jan. A way to go before 2021 orders are fulfilled, but overall it’s reassuring the trend is from oldest first.

Dear Mr

Thank you for getting in touch with MG motor!

Upon checking with the relevant team, we can see this order is currently on shortage awaiting factory build, until production has been confirmed we cannot confirm an exact arrival date.

We understand your frustration and we would like to let you know that there has been a high demand on the model and the delivery lead time set initially for all vehicle orders was around 4 months, however, this would be subject to change, due to a number of factors considered, ie. logistic challenge, global chip issue, current order queue, etc.

Although all is facing the same challenge in this industry, some manufacturers may even have much longer waiting time. As a brand, MG endeavours to deliver all customer orders as early as possible and we are doing the best we can. A number of actions have been taken to enable us to prioritise the customer orders, such as petrol car sold orders only, dealer stock order restrictions, etc.

The delivery ETA is subject to change, which could be even sooner once the production has commenced. MG fulfils the customer order according to the order date, as your order was placed in December, we believe it is not long for your order to be fulfilled. We would advise you to continue to liaise with your purchasing dealer for any upcoming delivery updates.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and your patience is much appreciated.

Kind regards,
MG Motor UK

Ummm, well I hope that is right, ordered mine in December, it still says it’s on shortage and TBA…so let’s see?

Just checked my order form(dated 8/12/21) and it clearly shows -£2500 electric vehicle government scheme on the invoice. If I were you I would check my paperwork.
