    RPM issues

Agreed - 1400 rpm is the ICE warm up rpm from my experience. Also, it won’t switch off until it’s warmed up, even if you have ‘EV’ mode selected. In fact I can’t recall seeing it idle at less than 1400 (not sure I’ve looked!) as normally, once warmed up, it’ll switch off unless it needs to...

    2025 HS PHEV Towbar

I’ve now had a PCT removable hitch fitted by Banbury Alarm and Towbar Services: https://banburyalarmandtowbar.co.uk/ Good job by Tony who came to my house to fit it. Not confined to Banbury! Not used it yet. Plenty of clearance to the bumper. I’ll posit some pictures when I’m near better WiFi!

    horrendous metal grinding noise.

I’ve had that once after going down a gravel track. It does sound like you’re towing 2 tonne of scrap metal… Tried reversing etc but it didn’t work. I could see the small stone caught in the near side rear brake disc back plate. I managed to poke it out with a screwdriver. Handy having big...

    Thoughts on warning noises

There’s no ride adjustment - standard passive dampers fitted. Steering is changed to Sport mode with a separate selection - weights up the steering. Throttle response is much sharper. Fuel/energy consumption only changes over Normal if you press your right foot down more!

    first day with HS PHEV

All very fair but mostly subjective points and no issue with that. Personally, I prefer the feel of the steering (and drive mode) in Sport mode. The steering wheel I'm fine with and, as mentioned previously, I use the left star key for regen high/low - regen isn't as strong as in the Superb iV...

    Real battery capacity

Initially, my 2025 HS PHEV would show 75 mile estimated range with a 100% charge. After13k miles, it now normally shows 73 miles estimated range after the 100% charge. I'm not fussed that the perceived range indicator has dropped two miles. The ICE will kick in normally with around 6 miles of...

    first day with HS PHEV

I use the left star key to flip from high to low regen and on mine it does stay to what is selected on shut down/start up. I do seem to recall that if you cycle through the various drive modes, 'comfort' (or whatever it's called) puts it into low regen. I may have made that up though - I'll...

    Hard Plastic Charge Port Cover

I duct-taped a rubber flap just underneath the socket, open the flap, rubber flap falls down (duct tape 'hinge') and the socket cover sits on that. Thought about covering the socket cover in velvet like Fablon (sticky backed plastic...) but not done that yet.

    2025 HS PHEV Towbar

Excellent report, thank you. I'm going to have a PCT towbar installed soon. I won't be towing a caravan, only a trailer occasionally but it's good to know what the car is capable of. The real bonus is a real life report, not one by a trade reviewer over a few miles and then not always accurate...

Driving in EV mode almost all the time - Any issues?

Car fuel will start to go off after a few weeks, but that said, not to the point of it not 'working'. I'm sure many of us went through a similar thing during the Covid lockdowns. Aviation gasoline has to remain in spec for 6 months. The theory is that car petrol normally is used within a few...

2025 HS PHEV Software Versions, Issues and Fixes

I presume you've been through the various setting menus to switch them on? You probably have but there are some well hidden settings in the various menus!

    2025 HS PHEV Navigation issue

I can't comment on what mine does, as I always have 'dark' set by choice!

To P or not to P

There is no transmission locking pin as such - like there would be on a ‘normal’ automatic gearbox or the VW/Skoda (VAG) DSG gearbox. You can feel the electric park brake wind on with either switch.

2025 HS PHEV Software Versions, Issues and Fixes

I’d think software updates on a car under warranty should definitely be FOC! My Skoda Superb needed various software updates - one to sort the satnav out. I doubt many cars have updates via a USB or that are owner controlled. They seem to have Over The Air minor ones or full blown dealer plug...

    ACC/Speed Recognition System Unavailable

As said - most likely a software issue (see the software thread). The first update for me brought back the ACC and road sign recognition but lost the star keys. Second update brought back the star keys. All fine since (fingers crossed I haven’t just jinxed it!). MG Banbury (Evans Halshaw) did...
