How to check Battery life on the ZS EV mk1?

I've just had my 5th annual service & MOT today - 2020 Mk1 ZS EV 47k miles. Failed MOT on front brakes (I've already had the back ones done). Wish I had the foresight to do them before MOT and the resulting bill. I'm looking at the S5 as there are some excellent deals out there on the LR...

How to check Battery life on the ZS EV mk1?

Without an ODB adapter, there's a rudimentary calculation that can be done. Plug the car into your home charge point and fully charge - allowing it time to do a full balance charge. Once completed, switch the car on and reset the trip odometer to zero. Make sure the heating and AC/fan is...

Pay per mile. Another blow for EV drivers

Neither Fuel Duty (added to the price of fuel) or Vehicle Excise Duty (aka road tax - paid for by every vehicle in a very inequitable way) are actually allocated to road maintenance. I agree there should be some tax or duty but it needs to apply to every car equitably and should be for the...

Pay per mile being proposed in the next budget

I've seen a few news articles today about a pay per mile charge for EV's with this article being the strongest confirmation yet. Interested in peoples thoughts https://www.whatcar.com/news/pay-per-mile-tax-could-be-introduced-for-ev-drivers-under-new-government-budget/n28376

Thinking of buying an EV - here's my experience

Thank you for the feedback & it's not condescending at all 😁. I've fixed the errors except the internal charger one as I do mean the AC inverter/charger inside the car. The ZS has a 7kW inverter-charger, which means if you plug into a 22kW type 2 it will still only ever charge at 7kW.

Thinking of buying an EV - here's my experience

Folks, I've written up a bit of a blog based upon my experience of buying and running my MG ZS MK1 EV. Would be good to get some constructive (🙈) feedback https://pghintsandtips.blogspot.com/p/so-youre-thinking-of-buying-ev.html

2nd hand parts compatibility for 2020 ZS MK1 EV

That is expensive and it's got a good few scrapes which would need painted

2nd hand parts compatibility for 2020 ZS MK1 EV

I have damaged the passenger side doors on my 2020 MK1 ZS EV (see photos) and am searching breakers for replacements. There's not a lot of them out there so I was wondering if the ICE model doors are compatible. Also, has anyone changed the front door and switched over the locks? Is it a...

    More Android Auto voice commands

Looks like Android Auto has had an update Today whilst using voice navigation to get to my nearest EV charge point, I noticed that Android auto showed both the available and in use charge points at a location which can help to avoid queuing at a charge location What I asked for was "Navigate...

Preheating battery (without battery heater) to avoid very cold temps low mi/kWh

A very non-scientific experiment..... I’ve asked on a few forums about the benefit of pre-heating the car on very cold days to try and avoid the initial cold running mi/kWh effect and the general consensus was it wasn't worth it. Well after a particularly poor run when I got 6 miles for...

    Update on solar & EV

Yes, my system was £9k a little over a year ago. Current prices are around £1200/kwp of solar and £600/kWh of battery fully installed I appreciate the thinking, but in a way it's like a bathroom or kitchen replacement. It gives me more pleasure knowing I'm generating my own power and not just...

Making my dumb Rolec charger a smart one for under £20

I can only suggest checking the wiring as it sounds like there's a short/earth leakage
