Thinking of buying an EV - here's my experience

Thank you for the feedback & it's not condescending at all 😁. I've fixed the errors except the internal charger one as I do mean the AC inverter/charger inside the car. The ZS has a 7kW inverter-charger, which means if you plug into a 22kW type 2 it will still only ever charge at 7kW.

Thinking of buying an EV - here's my experience

Folks, I've written up a bit of a blog based upon my experience of buying and running my MG ZS MK1 EV. Would be good to get some constructive (🙈) feedback https://pghintsandtips.blogspot.com/p/so-youre-thinking-of-buying-ev.html

2nd hand parts compatibility for 2020 ZS MK1 EV

That is expensive and it's got a good few scrapes which would need painted

2nd hand parts compatibility for 2020 ZS MK1 EV

I have damaged the passenger side doors on my 2020 MK1 ZS EV (see photos) and am searching breakers for replacements. There's not a lot of them out there so I was wondering if the ICE model doors are compatible. Also, has anyone changed the front door and switched over the locks? Is it a...

    More Android Auto voice commands

Looks like Android Auto has had an update Today whilst using voice navigation to get to my nearest EV charge point, I noticed that Android auto showed both the available and in use charge points at a location which can help to avoid queuing at a charge location What I asked for was "Navigate...

Preheating battery (without battery heater) to avoid very cold temps low mi/kWh

A very non-scientific experiment..... I’ve asked on a few forums about the benefit of pre-heating the car on very cold days to try and avoid the initial cold running mi/kWh effect and the general consensus was it wasn't worth it. Well after a particularly poor run when I got 6 miles for...

    Update on solar & EV

Yes, my system was £9k a little over a year ago. Current prices are around £1200/kwp of solar and £600/kWh of battery fully installed I appreciate the thinking, but in a way it's like a bathroom or kitchen replacement. It gives me more pleasure knowing I'm generating my own power and not just...

Making my dumb Rolec charger a smart one for under £20

I can only suggest checking the wiring as it sounds like there's a short/earth leakage

    Update on solar & EV

I’ve posted before about getting solar & battery, and while it’s a little off topic I thought it might be of interest to some. I've now had my solar and battery for just over 10 months and I thought I'd share some stats. For reference my system is 5.2kwp of solar (JA Solar) & 7.2kwh of battery...

    Courtesy car for warranty repair

I think the 10 are EV's - the dealership is a highly reputable main MG EV dealer in Scotland, so they will be the go to place for MG EV issues

    Courtesy car for warranty repair

Had my car recovered by AA for HV battery fault which happened whilst driving the car. All the usual repair option failed and the car is now at the garage (main MG dealer in Scotland). Having spoken to the dealer I may have a long wait as they have 10 recovered cars needing diagnosed/repaired...

    Octopus Electric Universe

Folks, I can't see it mentioned so thought it worth a post. Octopus Energy provide access to an EV charge card called Electric Universe. It's like most other cards, but it has access to a wide range of charge providers and it can be setup so that the cost of charging can be taken from your...

Vehicle to Load (V2L) - Any Information or First Hand Experiences?

I’ve read through some of the comments on the V2L being used to supplement the household electricity consumption and would like to share that at least one person is doing this using a Kia EV6 albeit they manual switch between the car supplying the house and the grid supplying the house each day...
