Newbie.

281 range. I charge to 100% and the dashboard says the range is 268. This is with heating, lights, radio etc all off.

Why the difference?

The estimated range is based on your last journey efficiency so it should vary accordingly. There are many factors involved in battery and driving efficiency such as colder weather to name but one of many....

Regen use
Heavy right foot
Number of passengers
journey type
speed and I could go on....

It learns from your driving style and experience so the range estimate will go up and down and be shorter in colder and windier weather.

Edit: snap! you got there first!

Huh? Did you get out of the wrong side of your bed this morning? Or have you had Sense of Humour transplant surgery recently? 🙄
What do you mean?

presume you can type an arse /terse / sarcastic reply and think by hoying in a winking emoticon, all will be fine?

It’s like calling someone a tw@t whilst smiling in their face, in real life (well to me at least).

the member clearly said he / she/ it was a newbie….yet you reply as if they are to know a more in-depth knowledge, that is all I meant 👍

Don't make me post the meme again.

Oh, alright then

EDIT - I commend this meme to the mods, for use in averting future flamewars.

As has been mentioned, prior driving style and general usage has an impact on predicted range. (Hence the GOM comment) :)

If you charge to 100% and reset the trip meter, what range do you then see? (Supposedly this resets the car to use factory default range estimates).

If that 281 miles figure is from the manufacturer, then they quote WLTP cycle figures. Real world range is usually less. Up to 20% less in my experience. Google WLTP for more information.

We have had our MG4 for 3 weeks and travelled about 500 miles. We notice that the range varies considerably depending on driving conditions and how heavy footed you are. For instance driving in the suburbs/town where there is a lot of stop start and low speeds we can achieve about 5.8 miles/KWh. On the motorway, travelling at 70 mph, in rainy conditions with the heating etc on we get about 3.2 miles/KWh.
On average over the 500miles we got 3.8, but that did include some heavy footwork. On average around the suburbs we got 4.8 On a test drive we travelled 190 miles, mostly on the motor way and the dash showed the remaining range as 45 miles, so theoretically the maximum we could have travelled on a full charge was 235 miles. However you could never run the battery down to zero so probably less, unless the remaining range estimate takes this into consideration. Our dealer tested how long he could drive a MG4 for before it stopped from a flat battery, he said that once you get down to less than 10% the car goes into eco mode and gradually restricts acceleration and speed until you are nearly crawling.

Beware dealers having seen a YouTube video and posting as if they have actually done it. The car doesn't actually go into Eco mode at 10% , it only asks if you want to go into Eco mode. At 5% it is still driving normally, no loss of performance or function. I've not personally been any lower.

I think @Miles Roberts CG actually did a range test in a Trophy, and commented likewise.

Edit: this is the video I was thinking of. I'm not sure if he comments about switching into Eco mode - he simply mentions about warnings at ~20% and ~10%; if the car had switched to Eco I'm sure he would have said.

Yep ours warned at 21% today then 11% and at 10% a message popped up asking if we wanted Eco mode

Nothing forced on us at all, unlike our old EV6 which started trying to divert you off nav to a charger at 10%.

Can confirm no loss of power at the 7% we got down to before getting home
