MG4 Carlinkit

I'm not really following your explanation. Did you do anything different when you set-up the CarLinkit for the 2nd time?
I followed the upgrade WiFi instructions the first time, rather than the far simpler by Bluetooth 🤦‍♂️

It was literally just a case of connecting to the Bluetooth connection of the dongle and away it went, no messing with firmware was required.

That's the one I'm not using...

The one I'm using is this:
Carlinkit A2A

Forgot to mention, it also has the bonus of a passthrough USB port so if you have the SE without the charge pad, you can plug your cable into this and not lose the socket.
Excellent tip, I think I'll order one, sounds like the swapping between partners phones is ideal.

This is just the sort of tip I joined this forum for...

BTW, I've had only the briefest of looks but I'm sure there is a thin Qi pad out there that will slip under the rubber phone mat to give wireless charging on a SE, something like this on eBay - like possibly being the appropriate word - I HAVE NOT tried it ;)

The main issue with that pad is that you'll need a USB C cable for the power supply, as the car's USB A port is needed for the wireless AA device. :)

Hi all,

Had anyone got a carlinkit wireless Android auto dongle and is it working ok?

I purchased this one on Amazon for wireless Android auto from my pixel 7 pro to a trophy:
Carlinkit A2A

I picked up the car today and was told latest updates (including the don't lock yourself in update!) were applied and dongle is on the latest firmware, but I just get a red light and no Android auto button live on the screen.

I did have a bit of a mare getting the Android auto even working by plugging in, too several tries and reboots of my phone and a different cable...

Thanks in advance.
If you picked up the car today, and it had no android auto on the screen would you not get the dealer there and then to sort this out ? You should make sure everything is working and explained how to set everything up by your dealer before you take the car home. Regardless of the carlinkit it sounds like you have a general android auto issue. Get your dealer to sort this out then you can think about wireless options.

AA was and is working fine including when at the dealers, it's the addition of wireless that I initially had issues with (i.e. not a dealers responsibility). Of course I ensured everything was working before driving away.

device came with a plastic nubbin that allowed me to tuck the wire seamlessly under the panels.
Android auto kicks off immediately and it seems to be a complete o/s.

unfortunately, I have a updated pixel 7 with android auto built in and it does not seem to pick it up. I can connect as a bluetooth audio device and I may just piggyback the car wifi and use that way .

Pros:
It can be used as is without a phone, using the car hotspot.

Cons:
despite adequate internal memory , a SD card is needed for the camera.

I probably need to sit down for a half hour with it and troubleshoot the phone thing but have not had the time.

Just bought the A2A dongle but having issues with it connecting to my phone (Pixel 6 Pro)

The bluetooth connection seems to be continually connecting and disconnecting. Occasionally the Android auto notification comes up on my phone, but only to tell me to plug in the usb cable to use AA.

Don't know if I've got a faulty dongle or if it's not compatible with my phone for some reason.

@WonkoTheSaneUK @Shanecb as it seems to be working for you guys, did it just work out of the box for you? Did you do anything extra like upgrade the firmware or anything?

Have you checked you have the latest (early Feb) android update on your Pixel? The January update played havoc with the Bluetooth on a lot of phones, including my 7 Pro.
