ZS EV first year service cost....?

Hi @Lovemyev I had already booked it in for an MOT elsewhere, the dealer did call to say it needs an MOT too and said they could do it at the same time.
To be honest it’ll only ever be going into an MG dealership when it is necessary to keep the warranty!
Agreed !.
How did the independent MOT go then ?.
Any comments, references to the common EV brake disc's issues ?.

Starting to shop around for a first year service on my mark 1 ZS EV... I'm at 3500 miles... Service due next month say..

Any one got recent cost/service experiences to throw in the pot for consideration?

In reality it can go anywhere M62 corridor or thereabouts but I (& maybe others?) would be interested in all & any info & experiences 👍

PM me if you don't want it "in public"?

(I was looking at a screenshot from MG.co.uk from maybe a year ago where the first year service had a "price" of £30 odd quid 🤣, needless to say that is well deleted from their www now)

Thanks

@Lovemyev Well what an interesting day......
First MOT, no issues noted at all, but middle rear seatbelt wouldn't lock in, I fiddled around with it and I got it latching so they re-issued a pass.
Then this afternoon have been crashed into from behind at a mini-roundabout. Silver plastic panel under rear bumper broken, I've removed it out of the way; number plate broken/hanging off, black plastic bumper not clipped in properly at the top but seems to be secure enough; doesn't appear to be any damage to anything that is metal. I wonder how available these parts will be.....

Just been quoted £321 for 3 n 4 year service plan ,no mention of mot s.on my 2021 mg zs ev.macklin motors Edinburgh. Ps 7000 miles per year.

As you are a low mileage user case, just question / challenge this with the dealer.
There are two different prices for service costs, just make sure they are quoting you at the correct rate, would be my advice.
A close relative is a low mileage user case and when he collected his car after the service work, he questioned the cost.
They subsequently reduced the price of the bill, but were a little displeased with having to perform this process !.
Many thanks Lovemyev, I went back to the dealer and quoted what you advised and they have halved the original price to £135

Ensure that they have renewed your MG Assistance, before you leave !.
Then I would leave it for a few days, then ring the number for MG Assistance ( A.A.) quote your reg number and ask if you are covered.

I asked them if my MG assistance would be updated and they replied yes

Willie - Just double check with MG Assist / A.A. after about a week.
If the dealer forgets to do it and you need their services, they will not attend !.
It has happened to at least one forum member.
Assume nothing, check everything is my motto ( it's my OCD ).

I booked for my first service at cost of £180. My dealer do not do cheaper 15k service. They will give me 30k service including pollen filter change for the first year service. I only drove 4k in first year. For MG 7 year warrenty and convenience, I have no choice but take local dealer service. What a waste!

If I join my dealer's 3 year service plan for £378, it would be the same as quoted by MG. My dealer would provide 30k, 45k and 60k service for the first 3 services. I felt a bit better on service cost.

The first low milage service on both of our Gen1 and Gen2 models were both less than £100.
In fact the first low milage service on the Gen2 was about £50 !.
The cabin pollen filter is not called for replacement, until the second service and makes up about 30% of the cost.
Why are they replacing the filter so early ?.
What you have been quoted sounds more like the cost of the second service to me.
I would challenge that quote TBH.

Thanks Lovemyev for you encouragement. I negotiated my first service down to £100 from £180. That include health check, brake cleaning and topping up windscreen washing bottle top up. Really simple service for low milage EV. I drove just 4000 miles in first year.

I will have another year of MG sponsored AA recovery service to nearest MG dealer. Home start is also included.

Most important, I will carry on enjoying 7 year MG warranty.

My service cost may not be the best. My dealer has monopoly in my area. It is cheap enough.

You have a very light foot! 3.2 average here.

My first two weeks' figure was 3.2 last year. My first motorway driving bring it up to 3.4.

My driving "skill" improved with less heating and more coasting. I guess my brake pads can last longer. Light foot is also for less rubber dust🙂

Hi everyone,

I need your help about service prices. I got a quote of £ 400 plus for my 22 plate zs-ev 60,000 miles service. Isn't it too much ?

I don't know if different dealers apply different prices but I called Glyn Hopkins Bedford but call has been directed to the call center. Could it be a bit cheaper if I directly go to the Bedford service and ask for a quote in person ? Or is there any other official dealer for servicing except Glyn Hopkins ?

I need your advices urgently ... Thank you very much ...

Are you saying that you have driven 30,000 miles per year?

That IS some serious getting around alright !.
Will be hitting 80,000 miles before the first MOT at that rate, plus the MG warranty will have expired as well.
It would be very interesting to find out about the reliability of the car after covering this number of miles and know the SOH of the traction battery 🔋.
Is it safe to assume that it has received a number of D/C rapid charges to cover 60,000 miles in only two years of motoring.
