Intelligent Octopus Go works like a dream.

@ralphaverbuch

Ensure all schedules are removed from both cars and the Zappi has been used to onboard with the MG as the car. My settings on the Zappi are as attached.

When you plug the MG in select the % to add and the time you require it to finish eg 11.00 am. If you plug the smaller battery in you have to do the sums on the % to add so if the Seat has a 40kW battery it is 80% of the 50kW MG.

My Zappi is simple to use with my SE SR and it's normally set the schedule within about a minute of plugging in.

Thats what I did - works a treat for our setup (i.e. unclipped the CT clamp off the combined meter tail, to just the consumer unit meter tail) (our Ohme charger has its own mini consumer unit)
I really must try and work this out with mine.... 🤔

I had a Zappi installed today via Octopus, switched from Octopus Go to Intelligent Octopus Go without any bother. A bit of excess solar diverted from my panels as expected as I was testing things out. Will see how first overnight charge goes.

I actually ordered a Wallbox Pulsar Max from Octopus but the installer phoned me this week to say they are currently withdrawn so I opted for the Zappi (nearly went for this originally anyway). The app is very pleasing so far!

Must admit - I got an Ohme Pro installed via an failed lease from Zen - I think my installer was similar in that they were smart meter installers normally, but also installed EV chargers (the website wasn't octopus, but it was the same system/format) - anyway got an Ohme pro, with extra isolators, and did quite a bit of extra's / outside digging trenches to make it work for ourselves, all for a very nice price, in 2 days of initial order / enquiry. - Edit : It was all done by Ohme Operations UK Ltd for £599 installed.

Hi, did they say they had withdrawn the Wallbox?
The Zappi is a great bit of kit, did you get an Eddi for hot water?

Well seems the Pulsar Max is available elsewhere but not via Octopus, and installer (with Octopus van today) was the one who called this week. No longer listed here: Get an EV charger with Octopus Energy Don't know why.

Not got an Eddi, got a Solar iBoost with my panels about 9 years ago, still going strong so might replace it with Eddi if/when it fails. Will run the numbers again on batteries first...

You are probably right, mind you, VW cooperated.
I must admit, VWG UK Independent Network Support Team have been excellent with myself - I still have full access for all my old VAG cars - just had this one through this week - no idea what it means - but have full access to the service record database, where i can add service records myself

Dear Independent Repairer,

The working context for VWCV, Audi, Skoda and SEAT has now been added to your GRP account which previously only had access for VWPC.

This will now enable you to install the latest version of ODIS from erWin and use your GRP login credentials for access so there will no longer be a requirement for your DP login credentials.

I have been struggling with the timed charging on Octopus Go via our Zappi charger for a while. Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. I received a message from Octopus saying that they now work with the Zappi, so I switched ASAP. They state that all is needed is to plug it in and they do the rest. They really do! Full marks to the boffins at Octopus Plus, I now get 6 hours reduced rate 7.5p in my area, down from 9p. Win, win, win....
I look forward to Octopus accepting the MG5 Trophy to the scheme. I asked months ago and it was not on the Octopus list. Checked a few weeks ago and still no joy. Is the model that rare or is it some other reason for the delay?

I also have had issues with Zappi. Have never been able to get it to work on timer. Luckily, so far, have been able to get by on solar charging. It helps that I am retired and the car is often at home durign the day. But it does mean connecting to Zappi far more often in winter.

No MGs are on the list, you must have a charger that is on the list, you can use a compatible charger with any car.

If you have a MyEnergi Zappi, you dont need to wait for MG, just run Octopus Intelligent Go via that, works better than linking to the car.

I find the MyEnergi app excellent, set schedules on it for Zappi and Eddi and can monitor battery consumption and solar generation from anywhere.
I rated Octopus customer service five out of five before getting solar panels and a Tesla battery. Perhaps the drop in service is due to lack of training or the impact of octopus taking over customers from failed companies?

I am on Intelligent Go, with Zappi, which works fine. Together with the Zappi App. What I cannot get to work is to charge exclusively from my solar panels. I plug cable onto car and immediately Octopus App comes up with schedule which could well be during peak hours, but it would be charged at off peak. But I want to set my green slider to 80% and Eco+, and only use solar at about 1.6kwh and beyond. Doable on a nice sunny day. But it will kick in to 7.2kw which is costing 5.6kw of grid. How do I override the Intelligent Go scheduling??

I had this problem and the cause in my case was the installation. The electrician had left out an item. I think it is called a C-clamp.

I found Zappi/myengergi customer support very helpful in working out what was wrong.

Couple of initial problems with the Octopus Intelligent Go and Zappy installation. But now works amazingly.

Problem 1 - After Zappy install our car swallowed up all of our home battery.
Fix - We moved the sensor clamp for the inverter so it read the demand of the house rather than the Zappy and the house.

Problem 2 - Octopus app wasn't correctly linking to the Zappy/MyEnergi app,
Fix - I phoned Octopus the agent couldn't resolve it but raised the issue with the tech team, couple of hours later it was working.

We also adjusted where our energy was coming from, so initally, the solar would charge up the battery, the rest exported to the grid. We then installed the Zappy, when that happened excess solar would charge up the car. Then we got Octopus Intelligent Go;

As we now have cheaper electric during the evening. The car would be charged by intelligent go, the home batteries charged of an evening, and a lot more solar is being exported as not charging up the batteries as much, meaning we are expecting a cheap electric bill next month!

You will get more by selling excess solar back at 15p and charging the car at 7.5p overnight and charge you house battery up at 7.5p overnight.

Thats easily sorted:-

1) Open the Octopus app
2) Click at the top left corner
3) Click on devices
4) Click intelligent octopus go
5) Scroll down
6) Turn off smart charging.

IOG will now not respond to you car being plugged in.

Just one question though, why do you want to charge from solar when you can exporrt to the grid at 15p and charge your car at 7.5p?

I was watching a Youtube video which suggests car brands are more likley to drop off the list rather than join it 🤷‍♂️.

I've not tried your suggestion just yet, as I was keen to explain why I'm not able to do the export transaction. I've had panels since 2011, and consequently enjoying 61p/ kwh for everything I generate. So I'm reluctant to risk losing that tariff.
But thank you for your guidance around the Octopus app.
