MG4 New fault: Drivers door unlock button.

Similar story for me with driver's door button on MG4 Trophy MY22. Button seems to be stuck-in. Problem arose before frosty season. Toyed with spraying with WD40 or silicone but decided to leave for MG to sort under warranty. My MG ZS EV Mk1 also has a door lock problem - one rear door is...

    Centre wheel caps

Hi Keith, I appreciate that it's a nuisance to screw on a short valve stem extender temporarily before measuring and topping up tyre pressures, and removing it afterwards, but that's what I do if I don't like the look of the pressures displayed by the TPMS .

MG4 New fault: Drivers door unlock button.

Thanks Fnegroni. Because the left and right door buttons differ in their feel, I imagine that a plunger within the microswitch is stuck in the button-depressed position. During my 12 months of ownership neither a hose nor a pressure washer have been used by me, but I can't say the same for...

MG4 New fault: Drivers door unlock button.

Thanks Ian. The symptom is not affected by the weather but silicone spray is a better idea than WD40 which could attract dust etc.

Petition to get MG to allow drivers to preset driving preferences

Lane keeping assistance is also unfit for most UK roads so should default to "off". Turning LKA off while driving is even more distracting than using a mobile phone.

MG4 New fault: Drivers door unlock button.

My Trophy LR driver's door button no longer works at all. The button moves but unlike the other door there is no sound or feel of a microswitch operating. Has anyone dared to try WD 40 spray in a bid to release a stuck microswitch plunger? The key fob and the other door button operate all...

    12 volt battery charging

Understood Tig. I have not used the car for 3 days now while monitoring the 12v voltage via the app. The BMS seems to have kicked in after 3 days when the voltage reached 11.9v, now showing 14v+ while being charged. When the BMS charging cycle ends I expect the 12v battery voltage to drop...

    12 volt battery charging

Having returned after 16 days on holiday I found the 12v battery to be too flat to be bothered to unlock my MG4 Trophy LR. (The HV battery was left at 60% plus before trip.) I couldn't trickle charge the 12v battery, seemingly because the current draw was too high. I disconnected the positive...

    12v Charging

On my MG4 Trophy the driver's display only shows the 12v status when in Ready mode; therefore it always shows approx 14+ volts. More helpfully, the iSmart app shows the state of charge at all times.

Rear lights condensating on MG4 SE

Perhaps I've got the wrong end of the stick? The 2 small holes I've spotted are in the 4 Trophy boot lid light cluster.

Rear lights condensating on MG4 SE

Yes, Les, I noticed condensation a few days ago soon after purchase, but today the weather here is cold but dry and without sun☹️, and the condensation has cleared. When washing thecar take care not to point the hose towards the small holes which should allow the spoiler to breathe.

    MG4 Dead !!

Thanks, I agree. I 'll build up some knowledge of the 12v state of charge over a period of time to gain confidence that I can trust the battery not to become below 12v or so off load.

    MG4 Dead !!

Also a lead-acid charger is unsuitable for a lithium battery. I have a redundant 12v 18ah golf trolley battery. Might stow it in the boot with low current cable and crocodile clips and top up on the hopefully infrequent occasions I charge the main battery (LR).

    MG4 Dead !!

Having disconnected the 12v battery can one lock the car and unlock on return from holiday etc? Perhaps with physical key? Presume that alarm or immobiliser would not protect car from theft - would insurer be content I wonder?

    Reserved charging problem

I was advised by my charger installer that I needed a Zappi chargepoint to achieve delayed charging on the MG. A few test runs have confirmed that a delayed start of 4 hours works. The Zappi has many features but comes at quite a high price.

    Charger cable failing to release.

I noticed in the manual that the lock can be manually unlocked by pulling on a cable under the bonnet, near side.
