    Tyre pressure sensors issue

if your tyres were cold, the pressure may have dropped to 1.9, driving will heat them up and the pressure will rise again. Mine dropped from 2.3 to 1.9 when it was 0 degrees.

    MG ZS first annual service

When I booked our ZS ev 2021 in for its first service (went in today) they quoted £487, I questioned why it was so expensive and they removed an AC service and brake service (car only done 14,000). and quoted £287. Before taking it in to the dealers, they wanted us to check it in online, which...

Adaptive Cruise Control and regenerative braking question

You are correct, there is no regenerative breaking when using ACC. I tried 2 journeys the same of approx 45 miles , mostly motorway. One journey using ACC and lane keep, driving at 65mph, the return journey driving manually at 70mph, there was no difference in battery use. I suppose the acc...

    Fixing down mats

we bought a used zs, had to pay mg extra for mats , didn't notice for several months that the holes in the mats do not quite line up with the fixings. I assume mg have been lazy and given us new shape mats instead of gen 1 , although the cheap feel of the mats wouldn't surprise me if it was just...

Can you reduce the MG ZS EV charging current?

every cable is different & every installation method is different, for example a 6mm twin and earth cable touching insulation will not be big enough to carry 40amps, but a 4mm twin and earth cable clipped on a wall will carry 40amps , although you then need to start factoring in the length of...

Can you reduce the MG ZS EV charging current?

they obviously don't expect the charger to create a large surge on start up, in reality a type b 40 amp mcb will not trip unless it had 3 to 4 times the rated current through it, so it would take 120-160 amps to trip instantly. In terms of a fault, a short circuit would generally create 400-1200...

Can you reduce the MG ZS EV charging current?

as Nicko says , the manufacturers instructions override everything, even electrical regs.

Can you reduce the MG ZS EV charging current?

a type D will allow a higher start up current for a very short amount of time, , type A the least, for an example a 100watt LED driver can produce a 75amp inrush current !!!!!! (for a split second)

Can you reduce the MG ZS EV charging current?

as the 32amp source fuse is what dictates the maximum load the circuit can supply, in this case the 40A RCBO is basically being used for its RCD properties only. You could put a 100amp fuse at the end of the circuit if you wanted, but you would be wasting your time and money as the 32amp fuse...

Can you reduce the MG ZS EV charging current?

the 40a at the end is fine as long as the charger isn't rated above 7kw, what's naughty is the fact you are not allowed to mix circuit breakers of different manufacturers within a consumer unit, also assuming there is an RCD in the consumer unit, there will be no discrimination between the ev...

MG ZS EV perspiration from leather effect upholstery.

not felt sweaty, but have had occasions in the summer when we get very hot backs, where both me and the passenger have felt like the heated seats were on, no lights on the seat buttons and because the air temperature was warm we can't tell if the seats have been somehow activated or not. It only...

Can you reduce the MG ZS EV charging current?

the fuse actually trips, thats different. Yep pulling too much current for the rated fuse, a standard 7kw EV charger should be on at least a 32amp fuse or circuit breaker as the charger will want to pull 30 amps . Definitely sounds like a bodged install.

    anti collision emergency braking

So I was driving up a steep hill, approaching road works where the road was down to a single lane controlled by temporary traffic lights. Foot off the gas so was slowing quite quickly, the car in front was turning left just before the roadworks, the traffic lights turned green so no oncoming...

Second Hand MG ZS ev - Battery Degradation

we bought a 2 year old with 10k on the clock last year, battery was still giving us 160+ miles in the summer but as n2sty says, battery has a warranty so would worry about it.

MG ZS EV Radio Module Disconnected

Had the same thing the other day, tried turning the car off and on again while sitting at traffic lights, when the car came back on I selected drive and nothing happened, couldn't drive, queue of cars behind me, switched car back off, back on, now missed a whole set of traffic light changes with...

MG ZS EV connecting to phone even when car is switched off

I have had a couple of instances where as I am getting into my ZS gen1 , my mobile phone has rung, I answer and begin a conversation and after 10ish seconds, the sound on my phone goes dead, so I turn the car on and there is my call connected to the car. Have tried it standing outside the car...

Car play does not always connect for me, when this happens I unlock the phone and it then connects (even though the setting is on to connect while locked).

Can you reduce the MG ZS EV charging current?

not sure which fuse you are talking about, but there is nothing that can detect the size of a fuse and therefore stop the charge because the fuse is too small, the fuse will give everything it is asked for until it blows or trips.
