MG4 Standard tyres are seriously dangerous!

It's been interesting running with the standard tyres over the summer as in warm, dry conditions they're actually not bad at all however as the temperature is starting to drop I'm already noticing them becoming a little more unpredictable. In fact unpredictable is a good word to describe them...

    LKA useful or a hindrance

LKA seems OKish on Motorways and large A roads however for those of us that live in the middle of nowhere it's bloody dangerous. We have to disable ours on every start simply because it will randomly decide to try to pull us onto the nearest verge or ditch.

    Trophy Charge Limit Changes Automatically

We've got the same issue since ours was updated. 3 or 4 times now it's reset to 100% which is annoying as we're trying to look after the battery.

Going away for a week's holiday - do I power off the MG4 completely?

Yep, even when the car is off! We left ours for a few weeks and checking on the app I could see the 12v battery dropping down and then a couple of days later it was back up again. Main battery dropped by 1 or 2 % but the 12v was absolutely fine when we went back to it. Our mk1 ZS on the other...

    MG4 experience

I think that's the point, had the OP come on here to ask specific question or provide constructive feedback I'm sure he would have received help and equally constructive opinions however his very first post on this MG4 community board was a shouty rant about the car that actually quite a lot of...

Charging from a granny lead, dangers?🔥🤔

I'm calling bullsh*t on that! 74% of EV drivers charge using an extension and granny charger? I know quite a few EV drivers now and not a single one charges using the granny let alone with an extension lead.

Charging from a granny lead, dangers?🔥🤔

Always a good idea to have the wiring checked and whilst the sparky is there ask him to fit a new socket where you intend to plug in. As someone else said most issues are caused by older corroded sockets creating high resistance and therefor heat. If you're using an extension lead then you loose...

    Lane Keep Assist feature

I can resist the tugging however the point is that nothing should be tugging at the wheel unless it's a last resort to prevent a crash. As an example last week I was driving down a straight single track lane near me and had forgotten to disable LKA. For absolutely no reason it suddenly decided...

    MG4 vs ZS

We did have an auto ZS petrol when we were in the Algarve earlier this year. Compared to EV's it was slow and non-responsive however for a petrol I didn't think it was too bad. I think the one we had was the 1.0 turbo, I've heard the 1.5NA is much worse though but thankfully have never driven...

    MG4 vs ZS

My 4 is back at the dealer for some software updates and they've given me a mk2 ZS EV as a courtesy car. Interesting being back in a ZS especially as it's a mk2 rather then the mk1 we had before. There's a few things a prefer on the ZS: Instrument cluster is nicer on the ZS. The screen is...

    Lane Keep Assist feature

Mine is back at the dealer for a few things but mainly the lane keep assist. Hoping an update might make it slightly less suicidal.

    Keeping the orange clean!

Got around to giving the 4 a much needed wash today. I really love the colour but it turns out that orange really shows the dirt! I wouldn't have gone for another colour but it's really high maintenance for those of us that normally only wash our cars when the number plate can't be read anymore...

MG4 Standard tyres are seriously dangerous!

I've owned 1 or 2 RWD cars over the years, Lexus Soarer, BMW 540i, MGF/TF, MG RV8, MG B V8, Mercedes SLK 350, Mercedes C300h to name a few so quite use to how they should handle ;). I've also done quite a few track days over the years including Nurburgring so again have a feel for how cars...

MG4 Standard tyres are seriously dangerous!

When we first got our MG4 the tyres seemed OK however after 3000 miles it's become apparent all is not well. In anything other then perfect dry conditions it's like driving on ice all the time and not in a fun way! I'm going to speak to the dealer tomorrow however after just 3000 miles they are...

    Reedham Ferry

Unusually I managed to pry the keys for the 4 out of my wife's hands which meant I got the pleasure of taking it to work today. :D Living pretty rurally and having a site in the middle of nowhere means that my journey to work involves going over the Reedham Ferry, which is a very small chain...

    V to L & boilers

I suspect he's after powering up an oil boiler and central heating system not an electric boiler. If so then 60 - 80w is probably about right and easily done with the v2l output of the MG4. I've considered doing similar as we also live rurally and have an oil boiler.

    MG4 V2L cable

Another one that works OK. Bought from Amazon for £99, took few days to arrive but seems well built and quite happily powered a 3kw load. Seems well built and has a showerproof socket.

MG4 Lane assist, speed assist keep resetting

I wouldn't worry too much. The MG4 scored a strong 5 stars in Euroncap and the LKA is a real pain but can be disabled easily enough before each journey. The self braking seems absolutely fine, I haven't had a single issue with that on either our MG4 or the ZS before that.

MG4 - Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and MG Pilot

Ours now has the 13th December update, not too sure what it fixed however the dealer installed it when sorting out a problem we had with ours. The update for the locking also includes it so when yours goes in for the recall it will have LKA which re-enables every time.
