    Do I need a type 2 cable?

I survived about eight months without one. Have a tethered charger at home and used the tethered rapid chargers on the few times I charged on the road. Caved and bought one in the end as I was going to France on holiday and was (rightly) worried about needing a charging cable. Have used a few...

    Octopus Electric Universe

There's a few advantages to using Electric Universe or similar: It's slightly cheaper for some tariffs - you get 5% off Ionity's standard rate, for example. Some places take a hefty deposit if you pay with a debit card and refund you several days later. You don't get that with Electric...

Poll on owning & using a Type 2 "fast" charge cable

Yeah, I probably should have added away from home. I'm obviously having a special one today.

Poll on owning & using a Type 2 "fast" charge cable

Didn't own one until I went on holiday to France. There were loads of Type 2 chargers, but not many CCS. Other than that, I think I've charged once in the UK since January, and that was a CCS at a motorway service station.

    Octopus Electric Universe

Yep, it’s very good. Went on a holiday to Brittany and the Loire, and found pretty much every charging point accepted Electric Juice/Universe. Can really recommend if going abroad.

Apps and Charge Cards - which do you recommend?

Just to echo this, I went around Western France and used the Electric Juice app and card almost entirely. It was easy to use, and in Brittany and Loire I found that a lot of the chargers were free. The only time I didn’t was a 3AM drive up to Caen on the Autoroute when I stopped and used an...

    Home charging your new MG4

The tethered vs untethered thing will be entirely your choice, and there are advantages and disadvantages for both. I went for tethered simply because I’m lazy and didn’t want to faff around digging a type 2 cable out of my boot before plugging in. But it is a bit unsightly, and my neighbour’s...

Take care out there! This from "The Register"

Not entirely true. Cyclists tend to be excluded in most cases because speed limits are defined in the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, which only applies to motor vehicles. However, there is an equivalent to dangerous driving called "furious cycling" which can apply in most cases of excess...

Take care out there! This from "The Register"

Agree. It's not as though there aren't quite a few of us car drivers who seem ignorant of speed limit signs.

    Beware bogus adverts on forum.

There's several adblockers now that skip the adverts and sponsors within Youtube videos. I use an extension in Firefox called Sponsorblock, but there are others available in Chrome and Edge.

    Portable Charger

That's great, but the last time I Came back from the West Country, I stopped at three charging stations in a row that weren't working (thanks, BP!). I made it home with about fifteen miles left, but really don't want to feel that anxiety again.
