Last of the cheap EVs ?

£1 a gallon! When I got my first car in 1972, petrol was 37.5p per gallon! That’s about 8.5p a litre! I would generally put a one pound note worth of fuel in my MG Midget!

    MG5 Emergency Vehicle

Spotted this MG5 being used as an emergency vehicle/ambulance on the Flickr site. Personally not seen one myself but wonder if the use of EVs in public service is becoming more widespread?

Show off your car on collection day thread?

I read a lot recently about ceramic coating and many experts reckon that it is a rip-off! But then you will get some who say that you should go for it. I personally think that it is a waste of money. Just keep the car cleaned, properly waxed and polished and it will stay almost like new.

MG5 emergency kit - what would you consider to be essential?

And don’t forget the essentials for the driver if you are waiting long-time for the breakdown services! I suggest a few packets of crisps and maybe a couple of cans of soft drink.

    500 miles in

Actually my first car was an MG Midget and unfortunately it was also a rust bucket. The sills all over the car were rusting away gradually and sometimes not so gradually! The soft top was ripped when left outside a young peoples centre that I worked evenings at. The sides were cut and pulled...

    Conditional Speed Warning

I have had this warning pop-up from time to time for no reason whatsoever. Pulled up at some traffic lights, just like a hundred times before, but this time the warning popped up! I have filed this in the memory box of ‘ One of the quirks of my MG5’!

    Suzie

Hi Suzie! A warm welcome to the forum. Always good to get more female members as well. I realise that getting used to your new MG5 will take some time but you’ll get there eventually and even now, after five months, I am finding out new tips and facts about this great motor. Just think of it...

“And if you want a bit of fun you can embarrass the boy racers at the traffic lights” - I have done this several times!

    500 miles in

Correct! The MG5 is an absolute pleasure to drive! Vastly different from the rust bucket NSU1200 I had once and the various Vivas and Austins that were in my past.

Show off your car on collection day thread?

The salesman that I dealt with was Nigel Burley. He was very good from start to finish! I’d driven an automatic in the US but was new to EVs so he spent about an hour with me, in the car, explaining everything in great detail then explaining again as my aging brain didn’t want to take it all in...

Charles Warner are to be recommended! I got my MG5, identical to this from there in August. Which salesman did you deal with? Happy Motoring!

Show off your car on collection day thread?

I dealt with a chappie called Nigel Burley. He was very good from the start right up to the day I picked it up. Always willing to explain this and that about the car. Although I’d driven an automatic in the States, I’d only driven a couple of electrics on test-drives so was pretty raw. Came back...

Looks brilliant! I hope that you got just as good service from Warners as I did. I picked up my identical silver one from there in November and been really pleased with it so far. Which salesman did you have? They are all pretty good there.

Motorway or Town Driving Using Kers 1 and Kers 3.

I know that Kers 3 is the recommended setting for stop/start motoring like in towns and Kers 1 for continuous periods of non-braking type driving like on a motorway but……..what difference does it make? Is there a difference in the mpkWh achieved or in the feel of the car when zooming on the...

    Long distance trips

My wife constantly frets as well! If it’s not the range, it’s the % left on the battery! And she doesn’t drive as well!

    Will this fit my MG5LR?

Oops! Just discovered after some research that the ZT bolt spacing is 1 x 100 so won’t fit the MG5 with its spacing of 1 x 112!

    Will this fit my MG5LR?

Can anyone tell me if this size will fit my MG5LR? Rover 75 / MG ZT 16” Viking Alloy Wheel And 215/55 r16 Dunlop Tyre 7mm Approx The tyre size seems OK but is the “lug distance” compatible? (I think that is the critical factor). Thanks!

    Silver or blue??

Go for the silver! It looks brilliant and is also very good at hiding dirt and general road grime! This was mine in the supermarket car park, late one night -
