Has anyone tried charging at Castle Donnington Services on the M1? They have a bank of rapid Gridserve chargers but, having tried four with their app and a credit card I gave up as none could make a connection to the car. I then spotted a lonely 50kW charger the other side of the car park which...
Have now had my vehicle for 4 weeks today and so far very happy, but have only charged at home so the time has come to charge at public charging station is this straight forward procedure? I read that to use rapid charging both blanking plugs need to be removed, do all charging stations rapid...
With Instavolt and Be.EV reducing prices to 65p/kWh and also doing off-peak rates is this the start of a trend ? It would be nice to think so. Will others follow suit ?
Instavolt 65p/kWh (and 54p off-peak 8pm-7am via app or Instavolt RFID only)
Be.EV 65p/kWh (and off-peak 55p 9pm-7am via app...
Hi all. It's been a while since I last did a long trip. Last week I did a longish road trip through France so had to use rapid chargers quite a lot
I've previously done this without any issues - apart from the usual hassle of using apps vs charge cards etc. My favourite one to use in France has...
HI,
New owner of a Dec 2024 ZS which I believe was manufactured in 2023, I've had the car for about a month, and only charged on the granny charger up until now.
I have been preparing a few questions/comments to post in its own thread as a newbie, but a sudden requirement for a 250 mile round...
Hi everyone
Happy festive season
I just wanted to ask what rapid charging speed people are seeing on the pfl 5
Mine tops out around 50kW these days but used to get up to 75+.
Doesn’t seem to matter what charger, seems to be since I had the Tesla update, though it may also be the current...
Hello all, I have just taken possession of my first ev an MG4 Trophy long range and I have a question. Is it ok to use a rapid charger on a regular basis as this is currently my only means available to me to charge my car? I am told it may affect the battery life ? Would appreciate your...
Could anyone please advise the best/economical place to procure a charging cable for my MG5 to a rapid charging station such as the ones found in supermarkets.
I didn’t realise that one isn’t included and evidently Halfords don’t sell them.
Thanks in anticipation
I have had my mg4 for only a few weeks and currently don’t have a wall charger at home, but I work from home so I also dont have an opportunity to plug into an AC charger at my place of work either. As such, when I get the opportunity to charge I have found myself tending towards using rapid...
When I rapid charge, I usually shut off my car before plugging in the charger. Works fine.
When I'm at home and insert the charger when the car is off, it's usually harder to get the car to charge. And if it works, it takes a lot longer for it to switch from blue to green. It's usually not too...
This morning, as we were returning home from Sainsburys at Washington Galleries shopping centre, I noticed a new signpost pointing to 'UltraRapid EV charging'. Naturally I followed and found this: -
8 charging bays, all empty at Friday lunchtime. According to ZapMap these are 200kW chargers...

My MG ZS used to be able to charge on rapid chargers, but now it spits it out after 30 seconds charging. It only seems to work on the slower chargers 22kWh and below. It's been in and out the garage a few times with this problem and they haven't fixed it, they replaced part of the battery which...
Taking my MG ZS EV almost 200 miles loaded with 2 adult sized kids and baggage for the week. I would appreciate recommendations for charging because ZappMap didn't look encouraging and the holidays booked now! Thank you in anticipation. P.S I'm a seasoned EV user who knows to lay off the aircon...
Well, got my car back from the dealer on Saturday after a 5 week repair!
Actually came back earlier than anticipated by them. As the car was collected fully charged was unable to verify the repair had worked at the time.
Roll on 5 days and….. NO, it’s just as before.. tried 3 different rapid...
Travelling from UK to Germany several high voltage chargers in Belgium failed to connect to my MG4 Long Range. The local MG garage found a fault in the rapid charge part of the battery and are "talking to MG about repair". MG have now taken a week to decide what to do and whether or not this can...
As we all know, Sainburys are rolling out Kempower rapid chargers to most of their supermarkets. They are certainly not hanging about getting it done in Bristol. It wasn't long ago they installed 8 of them at Sainburys Emersons Green, Bristol.
Today I popped into Sainsburys Stoke Gifford...
Needed to top up on our way home from a weekend trip at a 175kW Charge point/EV Point charger.
As you can see I'm pulling an amazing, 35kW on CCS.
The Audi ETron next to me pulling a full 4 x the amount I was!
One of the small handful of issues I've got with this car that means I'll...

Been a while since I used a rapid charger but decided to pop round and try the shinny new MFG 150kw chargers round the corner from me. I didn’t preheat the battery and it was about 13c outside.
I was charging from 50 to 85% just to see the speed difference once it hit 80%.
What puzzled...
Is it OK to use a rapid charger on an MG4? I found one at the weekend that charges at 150 KW, couldn't get it to work so thought maybe too powerful for car?
