Hi There again. When I picked car up a few weeks ago it was showing full charge at 265mls and the first time I charged it with 100mls left it went to 265 100%. I have had a few charges to 80% giving me 194mls, but went to give it 100% for a slightly longer trip and it only gets to 231mls and has done this twice.

I am using a Zappi 2 7kW charger and the ambient temp was 5°C last night.

Am new to all electric after having a HS PHEV so have to ask is this right.

Ta.

The range is a prediction based upon how the car has performed with you behind the wheel.
Keep an eye on the miles/kWh figure during/at end of journey; a reading of (say) 4mls/kWh is obviously better than 3.

I hope this helps.

The range shown by the GOM (Guess 'o' meter) is based on the historic amount of miles per kWh the car has used. This is affected by how you've driven the car, if you've used the heating, and the ambient weather conditions.

Sounds about right in the cold and if you have been doing some inefficient journeys recently (short, heating on etc.)

Remember that it's just a guess, it's not what the car will actually do if you decide to do a long journey.

I notice there is a battery warming feature, I have heard that pre warming the battery just before you charge helps. Is this true?

It'll help speed up charging on a fast charger if it's cold and if you are short of time. Most of the time it's not worth it as it uses the equivalent of about 35 miles of range to pre-heat the battery.

Also, remember if you going to use the traction battery heater on the way to a rapid charger, then your remaining range will reduce as a result of using the battery heater.
This is not a problem if you have plenty of range remaining, but if you are low on range, then its use maybe not such a great 💡.

I have never used this feature as I charge mostly at home when it does not make any difference and the only time I used the public chargers were on the motorway when the car was warmed up already. The only time it may help is if you wake up on a cold morning and decide to go to the public fast charger right away. Otherwise, just don't bother.

You might also benefit from doing a full & proper battery equalisation charge. This will restore as much range as the car is capable of for any given ambient temperature. This equalisation should be carried out quite regularly (see your owners manual) to maintain battery health & prevents battery degradation from occuring too quickly. It must be carried out on slow 7kw charger or the 3pin granny charger. If using your 7kw AC charger make sure to turn off any smart charging that you normally use. Smart charging will often interrupt the charge which stops any equalisation from happening. Make sure to drop the HV battery soc down to just below the low battery warning to make sure all battery cells are below the low battery warning threshold. Then start the charging & let it charge until the car stops the charge. Do not attempt to stop the charge yourself otherwise it won't equalise. Good luck & you might get quite a few more miles of range out of it afterwards.

All the replies have been their experience of EV motoring and I'd agree with them all.
I would add, that if you do an equalisation charge like has been suggested, then after that make a note of all the figures in the accumulated total tab of the trip computer, then reset it. The GOM will then produce figures for range and mls/kWh (efficiency) based on preset values rather than what it has learnt of your driving style and might be closer to the original range when you got the car.

I have an average of 4.2, which exactly reflects in my GOM. For example, this morning I charged to 80% and the GOM says 213.

What I don't really understand and have never been able to work out is how the large amount of V2L I do is reflected in my figures.

I think that my real driving figure is around 4.9 and the reason my average is 4.2 is because of V2L but, given the amount of V2L I do, that split doesn't seem big enough, so I'm confused.
