Unfortunately not; mine lives in the centre console pocket on the passenger side.Any chance it fits in that little compartment with the USB's with the lid closed?

I personally much prefer to see google maps on the central screen. I agree that AA should be much more useful but the functionality it has is well worth its place.
I bought the Carlinkit 5 from Aliexpress recently ( it was under £35) and have been very pleasantly surprised. It seems to be rock solid in terms of connection. It starts up really fast, after the very first boot up which took ages. It actually uses Bluetooth and WiFi. I'm guessing but I suspect that Bluetooth is used to initiate the connection and then the data moves using WiFi. Everything seems to work exactly as before but without the regular disconnections I used to get.
Simple answer Yes I had an early AA Dongle (in fact, I still have it). It worked brilliantly and solved all the issues I had with mobile phone compatibility with my 1st Gen ZS when using a cable connection.

My AA Wireless works absolutely fine. Plugged it in a year or so ago, never touched it since.

The dongle allows the android auto to communicate wirelessly to the car. Plugs into the USB port. Works fantastically. Get in the car, wait until end of boot sequence and phone Co belt to car when you select android auto on infinity system.
Mine is often connected before I start the car. I think it powers up when I unlock the doors and by the time I am in the seat it is often waiting for me.
