I've drove a few electric cars and I don't think I've noticed this on any of them before. Is it normal that when you first set off and the handbrake is on you can feel the switch in the accelerator pedal? Usually feel it on the auto hold function as well. It's. FL mg5 long range if it makes a difference.

Is it the accelerator action not being smooth or the actual pull away not being smooth ? With either handbrake on (or autohold active) then there is a little judder/jolt/jerk as the brake releases and car pulls away unless you manually release the brake before using the accelerator to do it for you. This is normal.

It's the actual pedal where I can feel the switch for the handbrake releasing. The car itself is smooth but it feels like a slight grinding through my foot as it's released.
Well I'm assuming it's the handbrake releasing as it only happens when I set off from park. Either way it's with in the 30 day period so I'm going to get it looked at and maybe ask to drive another one to check I'm not making it up.

I notice you are driving an MG5, most of the replies are from owners of the new MGS5, which is seemingly fairly well ironed out
.

I've got it booked in next week, I wasn't happy with the condition of the brake discs and pads and accepted the salesman saying to brake heavy and it'll clear the putting off them but after less than a month they've got worse. Have asked them to check the pedal as well

Braking heavily on it's own doesn't do the job very well at all as the "engine" regen is doing the braking up to a point rather than the actual brakes. You need to disengage the drive and brake to make it use the pads.

EV brakes will often appear to not be very clean visually as they are used so little. In itself that isn't usually a problem. However on my previous EV I had to have discs changed at abour 40k miles because of binding due to non-use, the pads were barely worn at all. So I now make a point of doing the process above.

Thanks for that info, I have been trying with it on the lowest regen setting. I wouldn't have been bothered but with it being ex demo and low miles I think they should be in better condition. I know of I took it in for a service/MOT they'd be down as an advisory in the condition as there's some grooves along side the pitting. Still a lovely car though and happy with everything else

The regen setting doesn't change how the car uses regen when you press the brakes. It only affects what happens when you take you foot off of the throttle.
I try and remember to do some enthusiastic braking every time I charge the car to 100%. If the electricity hasn't got anywhere to go the car has to use the physical brakes.
