Alarm going off when charging MG5 LR

Thought we'd give it a run out!
Crafty camp, everything fitted in the car!
115miles travelled 113 left at 49%
65mph on 70mph roads
ACC set at 65 or 60 depending on the road.
Normal mode and KERS 3

After having a Vauxhall e-corsa this is a breath of fresh air with the battery % being displayed and a pretty accurate GOM!

Just need to see if the big Karsten tent will fit!
Car looks grand, the tent looks smart. All told a tidy campsite- in short, I’m jealous 🤩

This site Wyse House farm near Malton is fantastic.
Only a small site but full excellent facilities and kept really clean.
Electric hook up as well.

Electric hook up is for camping use.
I wouldn't want to risk using the granny cable.
It is 16amp supply to the pitches but maybe not up to continuous current draw for charging.
Although speaking to the owner she is looking at putting in a charging point!

It should be ok at 9 amps, that's almost the same as a 2kW electric fire.

You can turn the charging down on some granny leads to 6A (~1.4kW) which helps. Adding 4-5 miles range every hour isn't huge but sometimes can make all the difference to a journey.

Picked up my used MG5 LR exclusive yesterday.
Wanted to test the charging using a Ohme charger.
Set the charger to only charge at cheap rate which I had set the time from 00:30 to 04:30
About 00:30 the alarm started going off, so pressed the unlock button.
After the 30secs everything locked and charging started again, about an hour later alarm started going off again.
This time went outside and unplugged the charger.
The car had been sat on the drive most of the day locked and all was OK.
Just seems to be when it's charging the lights will flash and horn will sound, which isn't great at 01:30 in the morning!

Anyone else had this issue or can offer advice would be great.

Cheers

Ian
I have come across the same issue, exactly as you described. This is hired car so will have to return...

Did you manage to sort out yours at the end ?

If there's anything plugged into the OBD2 port and it starts trying to communicate with the car when it's locked then it tends to set of the alarm.

Discovered this during my OVMS (Open Vehicle monitoring system) testing.
