I had to do a couple of 'taxi' trips recently to convey my better half to a line dancing weekend at Whitby. It's a 245 mile round trip from home, right on range limit of our 2023 MG5 Trophy and it's a mix of motorway, A and B roads. I did of course plan charging stops along the return route knowing that the guessometer as many like to call it was somewhat unreliable.

The journey of Friday to drop her off went well, the satnav for some very strange reason took us off the main road from Pickering onto a single track road over moors, very picturesque, stunning views, superb. We arrived in Whitby with 51% battery remaining, average speed 46 mph. So, less than half the battery used to get there......... The return journey looked to be on schedule for getting back, I drove a little slower to help the range until I hit a road closed and diversion. I had to grab a few electrons from Lidl on the south side of the Humber Bridge. When I got home the car told me I had averaged 5.6 miles/kWh which is amazing for the size of car.

On Monday I had to go and collect her, same route, no road closed and I did it all without charging en route, returning home with 4% battery remaining. The guessometer proved to be absolutely spot on. I have to say, there's no excuse for people running out of battery, the car warns your progressively more until it's nagging you to death that it needs charging LOL.

All in all, totally impressed with the cars capability, relatively comfortable, decent performance an sooooooo cheap to run.

I reckon you took a wrong turn in Pickering mate, but that road over the moors to Whitby is a beautiful road. 🙂
Nope, I came out of the car park at the bottom of the hill in Pickering and 200 metres uop the hill the satnav turned me off to the left. Im so glad it did, it was a great road to drive and the scenery amazing.

I quite like the odd excursions the sat nav takes you. My recent trip to Scotland, on the way to a distillery tour it took me around 5 miles on a narrow country lane with nice views and eventually put me back on the same A road. Not sos sure about when it tried to take me down a green lane on a recent local trip though.
