MG4 Trophy LR
Well, my threat to cancel my order has now been carried out :(. I've had enough.

I originally ordered a ZS back in April, but when the MG4 was released and it became very apparent the ZS wouldn't turn up anytime soon, I ordered an orange MG4 Trophy instead. I chose the orange because I was informed it was going to be the most prolific and hence earliest available, but mainly because my wife told me to!
Anyway, as it turned out, my dealer didn't get any orange Trophies in their delivery, but I was assured there'd be some coming in the next batch, so I waited....So far, the dealer hasn't seen a single Trophy of any colour.

I've just had an email from the dealer today telling me I now have to wait until the third week of February. How could that be when the delivery times being bandied around say 16 weeks max? By my maths, they expect me to be waiting for 28 weeks or more from the date of my order. That's not going to happen, so that dealer has lost a sale to me I'm afraid. Yes, I do realise it's down to MG's crap allocation system, but I've had £500 deposit sat in someone else's bank account for too long now.

I have a reasonable PCP accepted offer from my bank, but the offer only lasts until the end of December, then I'd have to apply again at a much higher interest rate now.
Is there any dealer out there who has, or will have before the end of the year, an orange, blue or grey Trophy available? If not, then I'm afraid I'm staying with petrol and selling my, so far, unused Zappi.

Trophy available in South Shields, wonder if it's a rejected car or just a demo, might be a good deal for someone

That looks cheap, I think it must be a reject! When I was looking recently as I was concerned about the MG4 issues nearly new EVs didn't usually get a discount l.
Must be because it's already got 1000 miles on it

Well, at long, long last I've seen an orange Trophy in the metal (yes, they do exist!) and had my test drive.

I had a rather arduous journey to Dorset for the test drive and I promise not to mention the drive home back to Bristol at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon shudder but I have to say the trip was worth it.
As we pulled up at the dealer (Hendy MG in Poole before anyone asks), the demonstrator was parked outside and the first thing my wife said was "I do like the colour". Halleluiah, first hurdle cleared! After first putting the seatbelts to the test (look, it's my first time driving with no clutch pedal for 40 years, ok?), the rest of the test drive was a resounding success. I certainly found the blind spot warning extremely useful on one roundabout!

Sure, there were a couple of things that weren't perfect, the dreaded fatigue warning and slightly laggy infotainment screen for instance, but the only real disappointment for me was the sill width. As someone who is vertically challenged, i.e I've got short legs, I did find the sill edge digging into the back of my calf when getting out of the car. Funnily enough, neither my wife or I really noticed the width when getting into the car.

Anyway, long story short, we were convinced and have pulled the trigger on an almost in-stock (it's at the dealers, but not on the stock list or PDI'd yet) orange Trophy. Not registered yet but I do have the VIN. Particular thanks to Sanjay ?

Bit of a relief after waiting 3 months for the same model at my local dealer, only to be then told I'd have to wait a further 3 months!!

Just a few weeks to go now, better start revising the owner's manual!

I don’t trust these adverts, when I was looking a lot of the time I would contact the person/dealer via the app and a lot of the time they would give a they did not have it anymore and would still take a order from you at the same price but no delivery time.

In the end I personally emailed a few of my local MG dealers in a radius of around 100 miles, and asked them to let me know if they had any spare cars in the spec I wanted and to contact me when they did.

I got a call within 3 days that one was available and I could pick it up in 2 weeks, that day will be here next Tuesday, exactly 2 weeks 2 days.

@FiferMG4 , I assume you are referring to the Trophy in South Shields?
To be honest, I didn't look too hard at that one because it was almost 300 miles away from me anyway.
As I mentioned in my follow up post, I had a dealer just 70 miles away contact me that had exactly the colour/spec I wanted so, much like yourself, I just have a few weeks to wait, rather than another three months!
