Anyone else been plagued by Airbag Warning messages?

We have mg hs there saying a rodent has chewed through the air bag harness on reading this I'm now wondering if the list is fault they want 2,000 pound please help!!!

Hi everyone,

There is another thread on this topic - not sure how to combine or whether that needs Admin help!

More importantly, I tried the "wiggle and press the contacts for the airbag" technique briefly described in the video on this thread.

Summary steps:

Go to CAR --> SAFETY menu and power off vehicle
Look under drivers seat for yellow cable connectors - check if it is too taught, coming loose, caught etc and push together firmly but very carefully
Power on vehicle and see if the airbag error clears

Apparently this is a problem for multiple vehicles although it does seem to be particularly bad in our MGs by the look of things.

I'll keep you posted but I did that and the error vanished straight away. Fingers are firmly crossed...

@crowe99, I feel like I owe you money! You just saved my a lot of trouble and possibly a chance my MG4 SE being detained at the dealership while waiting for an ECU replacement. Following your clear instructions here it took me about a minute to clear out the 3 months long nagging airbag fault. In my case it was the passenger seat. I remember that on the day I got the first error message, I had pushed the passenger seat all the way back and also flattened it, so I could use it as a workbench to reach behind the glove box where I was mounting an aftermarket amplifier. It all makes sense now. Flattening either driver or passenger seats and pushing them all the way back in a bed position probably put pressure on the airbag cable/ connector. I might have strained the airbag cable/connector with that seat position. Also, sharply moving the seat or road bumps also resulted in a fresh sms from the car to my phone about the same error. Clear sign of a partial loose connection.

It is fixed now and so easily..

Happy to help @gravity. Worth noting that since that post I did get the clip replaced by the dealer as apparently this is a known issue and if it keeps recurring that is the fix. I've had no instances since then but if it has sorted yours then you can avoid a dealer trip

Hi, My MG4 standard purchased in June 2023, now over 30000km, and airbag anomaly every time I get in the car. Been at the dealer, who first wanted to put it through the computer, but then a mechanic said "no it's a known problem, we just need to order a clip"... waiting for the clip delivery and schedule for it to be fitted. This is in SW France!
