Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone might be able to shed some light for me.

RHD MG4 SR.

Apple CarPlay has the sidebar for recently opened apps which is handy.
It’s on the left side of the screen however (passenger side). Ideally this would be on my side.

I’ve seen other vehicles have the option of setting this to RHD OR LHD but not finding anything in settings in CarPlay or the infotainment.

I know it can be done as I’ve seen images showing this on the driver side.

I think I’ve overlooked a minor setting.

Would greatly appreciate if any advice.

Thanks all.

Isnt there a setting in the carplay Menu to choose RHD or LHD? Android Auto has this setting to override when the car will not tell the correct RHD or LHD..
No there's not - Apple in their wisdom have decided that either a) all cars are LHD, or b) CarPlay users don't need this. 🤦‍♂️

My MG ZS EV did that once — the sidebar showed on the wrong side. I restarted the car a couple of times and it stayed the same, but then it fixed itself on that same day and hasn’t happened again since.

According to this post Carplay is looking for a setting in the car's head unit software to determine which side the menu should be placed. It is more than likely the MG software randomly changes this (or does not respond to the Carplay request in a timely manner or MG do not provide any data, so a default is chosen).

I have been searching YT for answers to changing the menu to RHD.
When I first connected it was LHD then without any adjustment it went to RHD and now back to LHD.
I have seen Carplay Video's for other makes where this is an option in the settings but cannot find it in the MG menu's. I did find a few other good trick and hints while looking.
On some MG4 Video's from an NZ dealer I notice all their cars have the Bar on the right.

Think I may have fixed this, for now anyway. I could not find a setting for LHD/RHD option.

My Carplay is connected via Bluetooth as the previous owner had a Smart Dongle fitted. This is quite handy as I now just has to put the iPhone on wireless charger and get Apple Carplay without the need to plug it in.
The Status Bar fix was to Forget and Re-Pair the iPhone to the Smart Dongle. When I did this it reset all the Apps and their order but also set the status bar to the RHS.

I do hope it lasts.
