Battery Failure and Repair History

No, they approved one after 6 months and advised me to contact the distributor for it. The distributor said a loan car cannot be offered because MG did not agree cost with the distributor. MG sent me into a loop but no loan car was offered.
Glad you got you car back but all the hassle sounds like a nightmare. I can understand why you thought £500 was inadequate.

Work out what it cost you to be without your car for 8 months ( hope you kept receipts) and write asking for that much give 7 days to pay or you will instruct solicitors and pursue for legal costs in addition. Have a read about how to take claim through small claims process in County Court as alternative. It is rarely worth a big company defending these because of staff costs and if you don’t use a solicitor they can’t claim legal fees against you if you lose.

Perfect! Thank you Kevin, thats exactly the way I'm going to go using the small claims court.
Also, I'm in Scotland (different legal system) so they would need different legal advice.
I've already told them my costs for 8 months, including depreciation on the MG5 for the 8 months and £250/month for replacement car (I bought a replacement car). The total comes to the limit of small claims court £5k. They do not dispute the facts - just say they have no liability to compensate. But they already offered £500 (subsequently withdrawn) and they approved a loan car but it was never delivered because they could not agree cost with the distributer.
I'm happy to go forward with that, and thanks again for great advice.
