Hard to believe I know, but I think that among the many and varied faults discussed on the MG 4 I've found a new one .
And that is .................................................... My horn blows when I'm turning right. The first time it happened I was ready to have a punch up with someone who had the cheek to hoot at me! Same the second time . But when it happened a third time as I was pulling in to my work car park with no other vehicles nr me I realised it was my car. Now seeing as I work in a quiet cemetery, it was fairly early in the morning and there was a funeral waiting to go in to the chapel it was somewhat embarrasing to drive past the mourners with my horn tooting away as I turned into my space. It's booked in to be looked at , but in the meantime I've had to pull out the fuse .
Has this happened to anyone else or am I genuinely unique?

Could be software... but could also be a steering column fault, whereby the signal to the horn is being triggered on a right turn. That's what used to happen in the old days, where the stalk/steering wheel signals are transferred mechanically as the wheel is turned.

Maybe the horns are still done in the old-fashioned way (rather than digitally) so these kinds of faults keep happening?

If I'm right, it would be a new wheel/column surround to fix.

OMG - that's a blast from the past (literally) - you've just taken me back about 40 (cough... maybe 50) years. My parents had an original Opel Manta and it also started hooting when they turned the wheel. Turned out to be part of the horn switch's contact (larger metal plate) within the steering wheel which had delaminated and contacted the other plate, closing the circuit and making the horn sound. Not sure if steering wheel horn switches are so mechanical these days, though!

That's definitely a new one. 🙄
The easy solution would be, don't turn right. 😉
Seriously though, probably turn out, to be summut and nowt. Obviously needs sorting though. Keep us informed. 🙂👍

Sounds like ( no pun intended, just can't help it) the clock spring in the steering wheel is a bit dicky. As Everest points out earlier. The trouble is that its under the airbag so a bit dodgy for the home mechanic.
