I have an MG4 bought in November 2025. I am struggling to open my boot as it is so heavy. Most of the time I want to open my boot I have my hands full of shopping which I have to put down to use both hands and arms to lift the boot up. is this normal ( I am female and only 5’ tall). If it is normal is it possible to retro fit an automatic boot opener ?

Sounds about par.
Mine has not become more difficult/heavy to lift in the 2.5 years I've had it.

Some others have replaced the pistons (or whatever they're called) for ones with stronger springs so that the boot opens easier - in fact you can get ones which make the boot effectively open automatically when you press the button. (Consequently it's harder to shut the boot).

During winter the boot can feel heavier anyway because of the lower temperature reducing the oil pressure in the pistons.
