I've been aware of the keyless boot entry system so didn't give it a second thought when leaving for work in the morning and opening the boot to stick my work gear in without having to use the key to unlock the car as the car key was in my pocket.
When parked at home, the car is reversed up to the house front door which means my car's boot is around 6 feet away from where all household keys are hung up inside the house (House/cars/caravan/family keys etc etc).
Yesterday afternoon - on the way to the pub - it suddenly dawned on me that maybe this 6 feet distance between car and key was actually leaving the boot unlocked overnight? So with the missus impatiently waiting for her lager, i decided to test the theory.
I left the key where it was usually hung up inside the house and attempted to unlock the boot - which it did, so...... i moved the key further inside the house but yet again, the boot still opened. This went on for a few mins as i increased the distance between the car and key.
By now i've placed the key by the back door and the damned boot remained unlocked.
At this point i'm ranting and declaring to the wife that i'll be straight back to the Dealers first thing in the morning to get this damned faulty car sorted! She just told me to wind my neck in and head to the pub to chill out...
So after 4 pints in the pub i had an Epiphany......
On returning home, i checked the household key storage area and booooooom...... there it was - right before my eyes..... The bloody spare car key!!!!
