... and me outside 🥵

I had the key safely zipped up in my heavy duty winter coat - usually have it in my trouser pocket. We stopped for a coffee, and.... I left my coat in the car 😒 As I touched the door-handle button, the car beeped, but locked anyway. I checked the doors, but all tightly shut.

When we got back to the car, of course, i couldn't unlock it. Fortunately, the Unlock on my app worked. 😌

This is obviously a zillion to one chance, but the two morals are: keep hold of your key, and install the app, it can be a lifesaver, though it can be really frustrating!

I always put my key in my trouser pocket, so far, I've never left my trousers in the car when I've pressed the lock button on the door handle.
Haha!
I was cavorting on a cold and windy Devon beach this morning, so thought it prudent to keep the keys safely zipped away...

My wife had hers in the handbag with her phone left in the car when she locked the door! She had to commandeer help of a stranger, borrow her phone, call me some 40km away and fortunately I also have the app on my phone. Jumped to the app and unlocked the car while I had her on the phone and abracadabra, like magic the car was open and she was saved! Handy to have the app on another phone JUST IN CASE!

Hmmm.... that could be a double edged sword, either person accidently uses the app to unlock the car they are driving, it doesn't work, so they use the fob .... only later discovering it was the other car they unlocked ......
I think the MG sales bloke might have put the app on Margaret's phone .... worth checking and a seeing if it does unlock the car ..... then, I can ring her and get her to let me in the car next time  I'm hoping you can't put it into ready mode with the app as well ......

Oh good, so they can just steal anything from inside the vehicle, just not the vehicle itself  o_O I'm guessing they can move it out of park and release the park brake, so it can be towed onto a tilt tray or a trailer .......

I'm not 100% sure, but ... do you need to be in the READY state to knock it out of P?
I didn't have the fob with me, but simply sitting on the seat with the door closed allowed me to release the brake and put it in neutral, as soon as I opened the door and got off the seat, it went back into park and applied the park brake .... so I couldn't push it, but I could make it moveable if someone outside could push or tow it, as long as I was in the seat with the door closed .....

Strange that I opened the boot and placed something in it including the fob 🫣 but when I went to close it the lid just popped back open and beeped the horn

Me too, I keep it in my left pocket, the only time I have almost forgotten my keys was when I gave my keys to my friend to get in my car first and he left them in the console.

The trouble with keeping the fob in the pocket, our 51 would often flash the lights, beep the horn .... weird stuff, finally realised, I was pushing the fob buttons when leaning against things while working outside ......

Naturally, now I get to the car and it won't unlock, the fob is still in the pocket emptying container ..... doesn't everyone have on of those

The worst catches are in the wife is travelling with me, it senses her fob and everything works ...... until I drop her off at one shop and head over to the next one I want to shop at ..... at least I've learnt to check I have my fob with me .... well, the wife reminds me, ok, before I drive off ..... that walking back after the car won't let you back in really sucks  even worse when you sense of direction has been spun around twice and you are already in unfamiliar territory ...
