Changed up again, MGS5 on the drive

(y) yes, it's (currently) a £425 supplement on top of the standard £195, payable for the first 5 years, though payable from year 2 (as first year is only £10). IIUC, that is.

It’s definitely on the bucket list, might defer my pension a year or two and stay on at work to get one!
My Dad held off buying an MGF until they’d dropped below 10k, same thinking here (though I doubt they’ll ever get down to that figure - hopefully they’ll start with a 2 in a few years time….) 🤞

Picked up my Trophy LR today from Hendys, Poole and managed to get back to Liverpool without needing to charge. The MG pilot a huge step up from the ZS and loved the drive home on a mix of A/B roads and motorways.

Does anybody know if I can add/remove the online services apps? I'd love a native Tidal and YouTube Music app (can't seem to use youtube while driving, just for music? And not interested in TokTok on the car)

Finding the option to turn off the 'The speed limit is 30mph' after an hour seemed longer than an hour while driving, finding it I. The native navigation app, not under the car MG pilot settings ha.

Can't wait for many more miles in the car.

I see there is an ex demo Cyberster GT with 500 miles on it at £12k below list on AutoTrader so they should easily be hitting the £40-45k mark in a few months

Collected my MGS5 Trophy today after just 3 basically ok months with my XPower. My 4th MG from Waylands Oxford in less than two years - because their deals have been so good. ZS Excite 1.5, FL 5 SE, 4 XPower and now a grey S5.
Cash price was £21300 through last weeks deal, paid a moderate amount to px the 4, and cut monthlies by £100 too.
Finding my way through another MG operating system, largely going well. Great to have the OG stalks again as the MG4 ones felt clumsy and I frequently turned the lights off..
S5 softer than the XP but harder ride than the 5SE. Performance yet to be evaluated but so far so good.
But after the gloom of the XPower it’s great to have a light ambience, rear air vents, lights and armrest, decent boot and cheaper insurance and half the excess!
Decided to jump because the figures were cracking, and getting older the low car seemed less of a long term option.
Parked at work next to my mates ZS ice and surprisingly similar footprint but feels loads bigger inside - witness the scuttle width.
Happy chappy anyway!
Was this a pre reg / what was the deal? Sounds cracking but seems like I've missed the boat. Can see some for 23199 at the mo?

MG were doing a £9k off deal in June, but I'd say yes, you've missed that boat by now.

Probably/Possibly but no harm in asking.
They either say, yeh or neh. Worth a try.
🙂👍

If that's for the Trophy model. That's even cheaper then the June offer. Go for it. 🙂👍

One thing I noticed on my drive through the rain yesterday, is how tiddly the rear wiper is. The ZS rear wiper was small but this is in a different class of small. 😁

Mine was a snap campaign by MG from 24-30 June. Original deal (taking out the smallish neg equity in my 3 month old XPower) was nil deposit, 48x261 and 13500 balloon over 6k pa. This was for new unregistered in-stock-on-site cars.
MG had initially set a 2.9 APR but pulled that overnight on 24/25 June, due to subsidising the finance being an oversight from what my dealer told me.
But they honoured the original figures! They cut the screen price and redid the finance at 6.9 which is still 3% cheaper than my last deal. I don’t think that kind of offer will be seen again.,
Dealer told me MG were cheesed off they’d not hit their sales target even though the entire market (all makes) has shrunk. Their market share must still be pretty good.
The deal was a bit shotgun though - all cars had to be sold, financed registered and collected by 30/6. Luckily I had a method to achieve it.

Curiously, today I was tailgated on a moderately fast twisty A-road. The offending A5 was getting on my nerves so as the road straightened out I switched to Sport mode, mashed the pedal and left it for dust. I swear I lit up the back tyres in doing so. My old XP would clearly have done more but the punch and the lack of torque steer made it so much more satisfying in the S5!

That must have been right on the limit of Range ? Good to know I pick mine up Monday.

Mine is currently GOMing about 300/tank 😊
MPK is hovering around 5 and although it’s warm I’m not driving any more carefully.

My advice is enjoy it! But before long you’ll know that, and be getting the EV buzz. I’ll never look back…. Although I still have ICE bike and RV, daily EV is a breath of fresh air. I’m on my 3rd MG EV in 12 months and that’s simply because I’ve been getting no-brainer upgrades from my main dealer. This one literally paid itself to upgrade.
For comparison, my new Royal Enfield 450 is in the process of running-in and although I love the bike this process is like pulling teeth. All for the greater good though!

Thanks I used to do Grass track many years ago as a junior using tiger cub 200 engines and BSA bantam Engines. So spent many hours changing push rods and the like.
