Anyone else think the term "smart" charger is a misnomer?

The biggest problem is it assumes your starting at 0% no mg api supportAnyone else think the term "smart" charger is a misnomer?![]()
Un fortunately that's not a option for people that need smart chargingset up your schedule in the infotainment system.
Can you not turn off “Smart Charging” then ?.Un fortunately that's not a option for people that need smart charging
Smart charging is designed for changes in tariffs every 30 minutes so when there is more electricity available because of sun and wind it cheaper or even pay you to use your charger
You can turn off smartCan you not turn off “Smart Charging” then ?
Great ?.You can turn off smart
The max charge button turns it into a dumb charger on ohme anyway
Not something I have tested as if I hit that button it costs me 28p instead of 5pGreat ?.
So if it is then a dumb unit, then the timer functions should be able to command the wall box like mine then ?.
Or am I just not understanding it correctly, I am old after all ?.
Hi I have an Ohme with the same 5p Drive Anytime tariff as you with OVO.So this is how I get full speed charging using the smart charge function witch I have to use for 5p/kWh charging
I don't need the car till 2200 but its the wife's car and she will use it during the day my round trip to work is 60 miles at motorway speeds with a heavy foot so I set up ohme to give me a 200 mile charge by 1500 but really I only need 25/30% as you can see pic 1 the smart charge is a steady graph to 1500 but pic2 shows car will finish at 0444 even if I get home late at 0800 I plug the Ohme in and I get a message we are charging you at full speed but won't finish in time only cos it thinks I need 80% charge but I just ignore the message as at full power it's only a few hours to get my 30% View attachment 11388View attachment 11389
Hopefully this will make sense ?
I sincerely hope you are right, but I do personally have my doubts that will see any major shift in a down wards trend in the price of energy next summer, to be honest.we can expect tariffs to fall next summer, once we have got through the present winter and got by without Russian gas.
We don't actually get much gas from Russia in the UK:You seem to be set up to get Intelligent Octopus tariff. 7.5p for 6 hours 23:30-05:30 plus extra at times of plentiful power. The rest of the time you will get charged at ~39p Ohme will manage your charging via its smart system, linking with Octopus and the Grid. We have ASHP heating and expect to use 50% of power at off peak, equivalent to 23p a kWh. If you haven’t joined up with Octopus you can save £50 on your bill with this referral Octopus Energy

Excellent informationIt doesn’t matter that we don’t get gas from Russia, it is an international market with international pricing. The suspicion that there is a shortage is enough for the markets to raise prices. But price pressures in Europe will restrict energy demand over the winter. If demand falls 15% across Europe as is planned for we will end up without a shortage. And if that happens prices will fall. Wind is powering Europe this week end. Agile tariff has gone negative today. The wind forecast for the next 7 days is good too. Keeping wind production high until March would defeat the gas market. Storage is full, and provides a buffer of a couple of months across Europe, though not the UK… France will get its nuclear fleet running again, one is to restart every week from the end of October. With enforced energy conservation they should scrape through. Flammanville is set to be on line later in 2023 at long last. The UK will add nearly 4 GW of new wind power by the end of 2023, Germany will have 5 FLNG terminals to replace much of its Russian gas The Netherlands will also have additional FLNG terminals and it is quite possible to move LNG by train. From dock to power station. Much will happen in the next 12 months to reduce prices.
