I had one instance plugging into a Tesla only Tesla charger my car would not release the charging cable for 10 miniues of me locking/unlocking the car pressing unlock on the screen about a million times, I thought I would have to call the AA but after 10 minutes it released - not sure why.

It happened to my wife this afternoon and she could not get the charging cable released for 1/2 an hour. Again not sure why it did in the end this was at a gridserve and this time the car charged before getting stuck.

I assume this is a fault with the car, or could it be something else?

If it happens again, just use the manual release inside the boot. :)

My MG4 pulls that stunt every so often and I have to use the release cable, but a good spray with WD40 dry silicon fixed that and the charger door refusing to open ..... although, I pried the plastic lid off the first time the door wouldn't open and exposed the star shaped plastic fastener, a turn of that releases the door .....

Only had it once at a faulty charger that kept taking pre payments and not charging the car. In the end it was a random combination of locking/unlocking and using the stop charging button in the car that allowed it to release (might also have been the charger doing something)

By far the easiest way is to just give the release cable a tug, it's inside the boot directly behind the charge port. Behind a small square blanking thingy if you have not looked before.
