Charging the Battery

Confused to say the least! I was trying to find out how to set the charge to 80% as recommended by MG for my ZS and this is what I came across while searching. My vehicle is standard range so is it okay to always charge to 100%

• Battery Type: This feature might not appear if your car has an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery, common in standard range models, as they don't need the same daily 80% limit as NMC batteries.
• LFP batteries: For LFP, charging to 100% daily is generally fine and recommended for optimal balance.

If it's facelift ZS (from 2022 IIRC) then the standard range uses LFP battery chemistry which is good to charge to 100% with no negative longevity concerns.

Did the ZS use NMC on pre facelift cars, do you know? Given the choice, I would prefer to get a car with LFP as I’ve been using those batteries in other applications since they first came out, and find the LFP cells fairly bulletproof and long lived.

From memory all 1.gen 42.5KWh usable cars was NMC. (But not actually possible to set it to charge to max 80% for some reason, so expect these to possibly have been charged to 100% a lot)

2.gen was LFP for standard range 50KW batteries and NMC for Long range 68KWh batteries.
