Connected, uncharged.

Finally guys I have some breakthrough with Tesla support. Lets hope our prayers are answered next month :) this year :) Fingers crossed :)
acknowledgement is great thanks Tesla!
Well that is good news. Good work for getting some traction on this. I imagine it's more of an issue in NZ, Aus and the UK where the MG and Tesla markets overlap more. Not sure if MG sell EVs in the USA for example. And given that Tesla is a US company I wonder what sort of priority this issue will get. As you fingers crossed. :):):)

HI ,

Thank you for contacting Tesla Support.

Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connectors are designed to allow charging across any Type 2 compatible electric vehicle. We are aware of some reports that certain vehicle brands, such as yours, experience intermittent and/or permanent charging issues. Our engineers are currently working with each OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) to develop a firmware upgrade to resolve these issues. The firmware upgrade is expected to rollout in March, 2022.

I sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.

Kind regards,

This is interesting!! Any update? Now end of April. I am on newest firmware and it still doesn’t work. Denmark.

Ok Guys Good News! Firmware 22.7.0 from Tesla gen3 wall connector has arrived.
and guess what it has worked on my MG ZS EV 2020! Huge thanks for Tesla to get it out!
keen to hear your comments on your testing?

Only thing left in Gen3 charger is my WIFI i.e I have ORBI AC mesh router RBK50 and it sometimes does not pick signal :( for auto firmware updates. but that's a small issue.

Resurrecting an old thread... But I'm often getting the 'connected uncharged' message when using public chargers. Does anyone understand the cause of it? Sometimes if I give up and go to the next charger along (if available) it'll work, other times, it'll work if I cycle locking and unlocking the car repeatedly. Got quite stressful this evening when I was on 10% charge and at my second charging site trying to get it to work!

Thanks for the response. No, it doesn't appear to start charging, although the charger appears to be ready. Sometimes if I disconnect and start the process again it'll work and sometimes it won't

So the message is correct but the problem is it doesn't actually start charging?

Does it happen with your home charger or public ones?

We had it a couple of times with our home charger but that stopped when we got rid of our power line network adapters. It's now only happening on public chargers and only sometimes. At first I assumed I kept encountering dodgy chargers, but this evening I was connecting to a charger immediately after someone else had successfully charged so I think it might be me!

There could be a problem with the pilot connection on the car causing a communication failure. Some owners with this type of problem have tried cleaning the pins.

Do you hear it lock when you plug into the car ?

I noticed on SWMBO's 5 that it sometimes takes a while to start, up to 30 seconds sometimes.
