MG ZS 2022 - Today I Learned that the hub caps have one air vent that is longer than the others, and that that particular opening needs to be placed at the tyre valve. Otherwise you can't access the valve with the air pump and will need to remove the hub cap (risking it cracking). #wheels #tyres

If you look on the rear of the wheel trim there is a picture of a tyre valve embossed at the relevent location.

Just confirms you have the correct orientation

When my ZS was new, one of the wheel trims was not in the correct position. I refitted it correctly, but never noticed that there was a tyre valve picture on the inside. The ‘slot’ is noticeable from the outside as it is flatter at the bottom of the slot. I found the dust caps difficult to remove, so bought some longer ones from eBay (as recommended by another member), together with a tyre compressor that uses a lever to lock onto the valve. Don’t know the correct terminology for that. Made my life much easier!

@TassieDi - a member suggested using soft surfboard wax on the clips at the back of the wheel trims. I have done so, and taken mine off a couple of times without incident. I bought some thick gloves, and take my time to gently pull all round until one or two clips release, then you can usually do the centre one. Replacement wheel trims are very expensive, so I don’t take chances.
