Cost savings between petrol/diesel/electric

Yes I meant really if you are doing lots of travel … I only do a large trip once a month for work and I am quits in .. but if I was going that 400 round trip weekly with all the hassle I have charging I can see people not going it .. I actually like the hassle of charging as I am geeky and I use bonnet etc .. but with my company giving me 22p a mile it’s getting tight if I used Ionity … I of course will never go back to Ice …love my ZS
Entirely agree, I just think there are far, far, less people doing that sort of trip pattern daily than most realise. Vast majority are short duration commuters day to day.

Added in some of the other tariffs that people have posted prices about, also added in some differing MPGs for the ICE cars, and for the fun of it I added premium just so we can laugh at how much owners of fast cars have to pay out :ROFLMAO:

If you have any other tariffs you want to add let me know and I'll update the sheet.

Ionity, at £0,35 is exactly half price of what i paid at an ionity charger a few weeks ago.

I only charged until i had "Get home + 15%" but still, i wonder how they do it at half price.

Are the exempt from VAT, and/or are there other things that the government does to keep prices low in the UK ?

Good idea

Couple of things, my charging is currently 5p/kw (octopus go), plus considering most journeys are short petrol & diesel are far less efficient (they are warming up).
Really annoyed didn't think to swap to octopus earlier so will now be on the 7.5p rate rather than the 5p rate.

Adjusted to accommodate the price increase at Bonnet. also to update new average cost of petrol and diesel and an average of premium unleaded instead of just choosing the expensive brand my brother in law happened to put in his car that day :)

Shell Recharge customers can now get 30% off on-the-go charging at Shell forecourts until 31st August 2022.

All you need to do is enter your Shell Go+ membership number into the Rewards and Partnerships section of the Shell Recharge app.

If you're not currently a Go+ member, you can download it in order to participate, along with accessing all of the other fantastic benefits of being a Go+ member, including 10% off Costa express coffee and Jamie Oliver deli by Shell food every time you visit.

This means that currently using Bonnet to use a Shell charger is going to cost you more than just using the Shell app for it.

Thanks for the tip re Shell Recharge, I have just activated the offer. I have found their chargers to be reliable.

Geniepoint is only 48p for registered users and you can add any RFID card to your account, no need to buy their own, or you can use the app to start charges.

Well I suggest we should enjoy it while we can because as the EVs user pool grows bigger the money going into the government coffers grows smaller and some sort of tax is coming the favourite seems to be some sort of pay as you go scheme can’t wait !!!!

Hi, I bought a Zappi a year ago as I was looking into getting solar which is being installed in August 😁
Thanks. I was looking at either that or hypervolt but was interested in peoples’ experiences. The fact that the zapping needs an additional hub is likely to rule it out for me but still interested in how it performs.

The Zappi 2.1 has a built in hub.
Oh wow, thanks for the info. I hadn’t seen that.

Oh and thanks for your codes. I used the InstaVolt and bonnet ones 😀 depending on our usage once the panels and battery are in I may use your octopus one also.

Check this link for more codes

stupid question - i'm with SSE electricity - i've signed up to look online but i cannot for the sake of it find what my unit cost is. i've had a google and on the standard tariff its 18.90p/kWh

does that unit cost look a bit too high?

Depending on whether you’re in contract or not… and also when it ends… Standard Variable rate at the moment is 28p/kWh, in October it will rise to about 36p, and in January maybe a tiny rise, of 1%, then a slight dip of 10% in April, which will still be higher than now. There aren’t really any better fixed deals at the moment than this - so if you’re contract is ending soon, you’ll be shifted to this…although there is one or two tariffs definitely worth looking at - Octoous Go being one of them, especially as the higher day rate at the moment is cheaper then the expected SVR price in October.

EV tariffs are all about average price per unit, but the high or low ones…with my usage and charging schedule I’ve got my average price down to about 12p/unit.

I came up with a spreadsheet if you fancy it to help Decide what sort of tariffs are best for you based on your own usage, for both charging and total energy use too - If you want it you can grab it from the drop box link below :)

Energy Time Of Use Spreadsheets
