Cracked air vent

My MG4 is a month old and today I noticed the air vent to the right of the steering wheel is cracked. The crack looks so straight that I thought it was part of design but I’m 99% sure it wasn’t there yesterday and it looks crap. It was a hot day today and the car was parked at work. That is when I think it must have happened. I can’t work out any reason why it would crack (there was no impact, nothing I can think of other than the sunny day we had (first proper sunny day since I got the car).

Anyone else had similar?

That does look strange
As you say, no sign of impact damage.
I wonder whether there could have been a hairline crack from new?

Spoke to the dealer and they are preparing an estimate for fixing the crack. Although they have seen the photos they said that MG are so tight at agreeing warranty claims that they are likely to refuse to cover the cost! The car is less than 2 months old, has had no impact damage at all and the crack appeared are parking it in the sun!
