Cyberster - 1-year service

That has to be the worst service experience I've ever had. MG really need to sort out their UK dealers. Quite why the MG dealer doesn't have it's own service centre and has to use the Nissan Garage next door is a mystery to me. Although looking at the tiny MG showroom it's no surprise. They still don't have they're special Cyberster marketing in place.
  1. Anyway, we'd booked the car in for 8am this morning, and were told it would take about two hours.

  2. Arrived just before 8am , booked the car in at the Nissan Garage, we were second in the queue. They assured me that the Nissan Service Centre does use fully approved MG mechanics.

  3. Came back to the garage at around 11am, only to be told they couldn't start work on the car because they needed to use a special lift because of the Cyberster's doors. Really?

  4. Finally started servicing it at around 11:30, and the actual work took about 60 minutes.

  5. The next hour and a half was spent with the mechanics trying to work out how to reset the service indicator. Apparently the Cyberster is unique in needing a special secret password which they didn't know.

  6. Finally got the car back at 2pm, 6 hours in total. Checked the Maintenance Checksheet and they hadn't filled out the battery state of health. They went away and returned with it entered as 100%.

  7. They couldn't do the R34 software update that was due because of a lack of time left in the day. Guess I'll wait until next year's service :(
Anyone know what procedure they're meant to follow the establish the battery state of health?

EDIT: Just noticed that my invoice says that the next service is due on 01/10/25. That can't be right!

The service type and date will be recorded in MG's system, and this can be viewed by all MG dealers in the world. You can also check by yourself on the website https://rmi.mgmotor.eu/ in the historical maintenance and repair information section.
You need to register before.
That doesn't appear to work. Either that, or the garage hasn't entered my service today into the system :( I entered my VIN number, and all I get is this.

You should at least have some information in the Update Log section. This is where the dealer should have recorded your license plate and the date your vehicle was registered.

It might take a few days to populate if it’s not pulling from the central database.

I’d wait until Monday before you ring the garage and ask why it’s not appearing.

This isn't the case for UK cars. That site is still showing NO service details for my car.

Whereas MG UK have now emailed a copy of the service details for my car from their system.

Is Hamas really running MG UK ;)

Good to know.

Mine is in tomorrow for its service and I’ve asked them to do an update at the same time.

Which email address did you use for MG UK to get that result @tarbat as I’ll want to do the same after.

The dealer sent me the service schedule details now see attached

I’ve just had an invite to book the 1st year service by our local dealer - nearly 2 months before the actual anniversary - no problem on that just planning ahead I guess.
I asked for the price which is apparently £164.85 incl VAT(UKP)
We will have done about 8k miles by the time a year is up in October.
I just had my cyberster serviced today, first one (bought the car Oct 2024). Had the service done at the dealership where I got it from (purchased on PCP). I'm still trying to get over the shock! £359 !! I kid you not!! Only done just over 1,000 miles, no work required. Took it in at 10.30am and they didn't even move it till 2.50pm.
They phoned me at 4.02pm to say it was done & I could pick it up! Didn't even have to wash it, I told them not to, as I have a ceramic coating on it!
Daylight robbery. I am frankly disgusted & I am going to look at where I can raise a complaint.

Just booked mine in for its first service - £191 at Eden group which seems a little steep compared to the other prices everyone else is seeing in the UK.

I’ll ask them to do a software update as part of the service when I get there - the main thing I wanted to know was if they could even service it and to make sure not to wash it…
I had mine serviced today at the Drive MG dealership where I got it from & they charged me £359!! No work required, only done just over 1,000 miles! I can't believe it! Total rip off!! I'm going to make a complaint.

Just got mine back from its 1st service.

The good - was reasonably painless, completed in 1.5 hours and they didn’t wash the car as I requested.

The bad - despite me asking them to update the software before the service, at the service desk, two phone calls during the service to explain why I wanted the software updating (fault with the entertainment crashing they were told) and them confirming the software had been updated when I picked up the car…the software had not been updated.

I did get a video showing the car up on the ramps though to confirm everything was ok (except I got told to stop using regen because the brakes were pitting too much)
