Interesting scenario yesterday evening. We took the Cyberster to our allotment where the car park is on a slight hill, and we could not open the doors, they both opened a few millimetres and could not be opened or shut further. I carefully drove (with the doors slightly open) to a flatter area and the doors opened OK. It does not take much of a hill to stop the doors working. I did not try at the time, but would I have been able to open the doors if I switched to manual mode (has anyone tried this)?

The doors can be pushed open further, just need to go to the gym more! I've found that the issue is with a gradient going across the car so passenger / driver side is higher than the other (roll axis?). If the car is straight on an incline, (car front higher/lower than the back, pitch axis?) then the doors will still open.

I did not want to force the mechanism so did not try, and we were parked with passenger door higher than the driver door. If I do get stuck again will try manual mode and brute force 😊

Stumbled on this post... which concerns me as a prospective buyer with a sloping driveway (horizontally/"roll" axis).

Taking some measurements, mostly 2-3 degrees. Worst place is near the entrance at 4 degrees but would rarely stop/park there, also there's a specific spot around 1 degree but which wouldn't be convenient to park there as blocks access to the rest of the driveway.

Can anyone offer more information or a view as to how sensitive this safety feature is, ie. should I expect problems?

Sadly would make it a non-starter for me if I wasn't able to use over half of my driveway, not to mention difficulties within the immediately surrounding area (small housing development built into hillside).

TIA

Edit: only mention of this I can find in the manual being pg.71 "Note: The door functions may be limited on extreme slopes." which, to me, suggests I would be ok as not what most would consider extreme... but which seems to contradict the OP's experience?

Depends on which way the slope is, as I understand only an issue if left or right side of the car is elevated (across the car as described above), not front or back. When I had the issue the angle was about 20º.

Suggest you arrange a test drive. Hope it works out for you, a lovely car 😊

Can you ask a dealer if you can test drive it to your home to check it works there?

This is reproducible on my Dad's driveway which is where I discovered the issue. Been testing this every weekend for over a year now, and discovered that if i park at a very specifc angle across the drive then the doors will automatically open. Just not worth the time and effort trying to work out exactly the angle and measure the roll, quicker to park and manually open, and have a workout at the same time. But these doors are heavy!

Thanks for the feedback.

If you are feeling inquisitive :) there's the built-in "Level" app on the iPhone (and I'm sure similar on Android), you could take an approximate reading of the ground level next time you are there and your doors refuse. And if you wanted to go the extra mile :) :) use the iPhone atop a longer straight edge to increase the accuracy of the reading - I ironically used a meter spirit level I had to hand to place my iPhone on top of.

I want to ask you "how much of a slope does it feel like across your Dad's driveway?", as in, is it a noticeable slope or more subtle, but of course this is highly subjective. On my driveway for example: no hiking boots required to walk across and "up" it, yet if you were to ask anyone which way would do they think rain water would flow there'd only be one obvious answer :)
