Cyberster Software Versions

The UK car may be mapped differently the power is certainly dialled down from 536hp although the IM5 will come with 760hp. The Sport button didnt feel 100% power compared to Sport. Although they're both aggressive. I felt that sport was very fast but not as crazy as Supersport. Maybe Launch control is different in both or exactly the same. Can any UK owner confirm whether there's any difference between Sport and Supersport when driving?

My Cyberster is dual motor. Thailand. (we don't get the single motor variant, hence no reference to GT or Trophy). Sport Mode and SuperSport Mode are functionally the SAME. For practical purposes no discernible difference. In SuperSport Mode (IF on a racetrack) certain driver aids can be disabled. (my understanding of the operator manual) Not sure how it determines if it's on a race track. (GPS?) SuperSport Mode has no other enhancements or dynamic changes. No throttle map change, no additional power, no steering change, no suspension change, etc. Regen remains (in my car). Accessing Sport mode with the right paddle OR pushing the red SuperSport button yields exactly the SAME result. Somehow this is a bit disappointing. That ominous "red" button should provide something more,,,,
you use one pedal mode activated? Since I deactivated it I have noticed a difference between the 3 modes

Hi, I don't use one pedal mode. At the Bangkok Motorshow I asked the MG product manager about what the Supersport button does. He said, "its as stated in the manual". I asked if it added power or other enhancements and he said, um,,,uh,,, no. (some hesitation meaning he either didn't precisely know or didn't want to tell me, so he simply cited the manual). When I do 'back to back' accelerations tests alternating using sport mode and then supersport mode I don't "FEEL" any obvious difference. Both of course astonishingly FAST! But my "butt dyno" might not be so accurate these days as its a ripe 71 years old! 😂 I'm not convinced either way. If the red button adds performance than that means in sport mode you don't get maximum power? Or in Supersport it adds some "boost" for some defined period maybe 6 or 7 seconds? Etc. The response of the MG product manager seemed to be a bit "guarded". Why can't an MG rep simply describe what happens when the RED button is selected? Shouldn't this be well understood by the dealer technicians as well? (My dealer pleads ignorance.) At least thats probably the only true statement. 🤣

Not that I’m aware of, they functionally appear to do exactly the same thing.

Based on the manual possibly only works fully on a track based on GPS location. As in certain more aids turned off. It would be good if the function helps with actively cooling as well. The car was able to do just about one lap on the Nordschleife. On the road not much difference so probably a safety thing

It looks like there are a number of cars being delivered over the next few weeks, so it will be interesting to see if they have updated the software since the initial launch.

This is what I have as of 14th March 2025

Entertainment System Version
SWI134-29176-1100R31'

Telecommunication version
1.04.001.z02

ISA Map Resource Version Information
EU_CC_20240201

Does anyone have anything different ?
For whatever its worth here's a screen shot of the Cyberster software version in Thailand. Seems the various versions are not really easy to decipher. My version is R23? No updates are available.

They've been working on the software problem all day today, unfortunately (again) without any results. Instructions are now being requested from Shanghai. So we have to wait again 😥😤

Its a long shot, but if you get chance to talk to the tech could you ask them for a copy of the software?

Mine was reloaded with the R31 software at a service the other day (I discovered they had tried an update as I requested as the USB port had been used) so this is something we should be able to do ourselves if we get the software....

I've asked MG directly for it but I'm not holding my breath.

I'd like to ask when I get back, but I already know the answer.
They're not going to do that.
I don't think it'll work either; the software isn't much use; you'll also need the MG program.

Is there any reason to get the R34 update? At my 1 year service they ran out of time to do the update, but did say I can book the car in again for the update but given the hassle involved I'm considering if its worth the trouble.

My thinking is that I'm happy with the current software, so think I'll wait until the next service for any updates. But am I missing out on any significant improvements?

With a new vehicle, there are always updates in the initial period. You can decide for yourself whether they're really necessary; they're updated for a reason.
For me, the most important reason for the update is the proper functioning of the Bose speaker system. But of course, it has to work.

Has this been confirmed as an R34 update feature? What else does R34 change?

-edit- whoops ignore me. I got R25 and R35 mixed up.

I’m at an electric car show and they happen to have a UK Cyberster here. Software version is R25 so it does exist.

And once again, my car spent a whole day in the garage, to no avail. Even the MG expert, who flew over from Belgium, finally lost it. Now I'm waiting for news from China.

Dropped our GT off today for a week at the pamper spa and relaxation centre for MG cars. They did write on the ticket do not clean the badge so at least that is one thing.

This is the 3rd go at updating from R31 to R34. MG Customer Service did confirm R34 does address the speaker problem.

Will let you know if a week away fixes anything.
