My insurance company arranged for the car to go to Autoglass for a replacement. A diagnostic check was carried out on the screen and it was found that ACC (adaptive cruise control) was not working. On inspection a wire was found to be cut next to a tywrap on the loom to the screen. The local dealer was not interested as they were giving up the franchise. I eventually soldered the two ends together and wrapped the cable. All now working OK. Car booked in this coming weekend to have the screen replaced. I’ve been told the software can be downloaded to the car over the air and also by their Bosch System. The car was only two weeks old when this happened and why was this fault not picked up at the PDI. I have to assume Autoglass are being honest about this and why would they have a sharp instrument next to the loom.

I presume you hadn't tried ACC in the 2 weeks before this (I tried it on the way home from the dealers on D-day :) ) ?

It seems quite a coincidence that it happened when the glass was changed. Was acc working before it went in for the glass change? What diagnostic check did autoglass do on the screen?

I hadn’t used the ACC as I rarely use it. Autoglass stopped the screen change and took several photos for their records. The car is going back to them this weekend to replace the screen. It’s suspected that a tywrap on the loom when snipped also cut the cable at manufacture.

The idea of the diagnostic check before any work starts is to fault check. Seemingly it’s not uncommon with Land Rovers being a particular problem.

Well I will add to this thread. Just had a 30mm star stone chip in the A section of my screen (HS PHEV). Obviously needs a new screen but still driveable as not in my direct view (3 cm from bottom of screen). Phone insurance and confirmed the £75 excess payment and they gave me the number of the supplier. Phone the screen supplier and they confirmed a mobile would attend in around 5 days. 24hrs later get another call saying that as the MG is a "PREMIUM" car they would need to do this at a service centre as the camera on the screen would want recalibrating. So arranged to visit after Christmas for a 3hr appointment. 24hrs later another call about my "PREMIUM" car and as it is very sophisticated they need to link to a specialised team in Germany to do the calibration and that will be in January when the Germany team are back. I really hope this works but a bit concerned. I will update. Interesting bit about MG being a Premium car!

Autoglass eventually replaced my windscreen with a Saic original screen and managed to program the new electronics in-house. Took three hours all told. They use a Bosch electronic system.
Watch them closely. I had a scratched bonnet when autoglass replaced a screen on a golf I owned a few years back.
