Do I have to enable something in order to get other cars/humans/bikes to show up on my screen?

My auto-headlights are OK ... using a cover with a clear top helps.

My auto headlights have been fine since I prised the cover off the light sensor. And I'm getting used to the auto high beam, which isn't as bad as I expected. The wipers are fine. The windscreen washer is an unusually fine mist but so far it seems to be working OK.
