Strange one today, wife came back from shops and said the front passenger door would not close on the ZS (she had tie it with her coat belt to get home). Poked around a bit with a screwdriver and used the fob and outside door button to open the car and lock a few times and couldn't fix. Phoned AA, they asked if the door was sitting flush or just banging off and not getting flush, which it was. Told me to open car (didn't need to turn it on) and pull the inside opening handle 2 times. First try did not work, but second try did and the locking mechanism opened. Apparantly it happens often with all cars. Wife must have knocked the mechanism closed when putting the shopping in at the passenger side. Thought I would post in case it happens to anyone else

Thanks for posting. I think I read about it on another thread but always good to post solutions to unusual issues.

I just had this today - so frustrating, being stranded in a car park over an hour trying to get it to lock - I will try this tip - had to go buy duct tape to lock passenger doors so as to get home , charge phone to see if it can be fixed ... I will try this now.

I had this happen on the drivers door.
The solution was to press the button on the outside of the door. It got stuck in and the locking mechanism would not operate.
Once I pushed the button and wiggled it a bit the door closed and latched in place
