Drivers side seal/foam damage!

Mine's wearing there too - it feels thinner and easier to flatten. I'm large with dodgy knees, so I tend to use that general area to lean on/push against with my arm as I get out. I thought I was mainly using the rear door area to lean on but I'm obviously squashing the seal as well.

Old thread, but this happened on my < 1year Xpower. Dealer replaced for free although said it wasn't covered by warranty (was about £15 of parts, cheaper goodwill!). The new one is starting to show the same issue. Basically, it's almost impossible to get in and out of the car without rubbing against it and that rubbing is causing the damage. Anything I can do to protect it? Was thinking some sort of lubrication, or perhaps tape.

I cleaned the seal on mine with isopropyl alcohol and stuck a length of black insulation tape where it was rubbing. That was 5 months ago and it was still good when I recently part exchanged it.

I don't think the salesman even noticed, and yes he did give the car a good going over even spotting the minute stone chip on the bonnet.
