Early considerations about the new MG Urban Comfort Standard range

Test drove the MG4 Urban in Germany today.
7. mirrors are power folding in the premium version only

Worst missing feature: front PDC :-(
I guess the 360 cameras on the Premium option might help to compensate for a lack of front parking sensors?

yeah, front parking sensors are great when present but i've never had issues with the front of a car tbh so it's an obvious area of cost cutting with minimal impact

after market sensors can be fitted, some options are very discreet too and don't require any drilling

I find that front parking sensors are useful when the front of the car has a high bonnet. I'm constantly over-estimating the length of my KIA Soul in car parks because I can't see where the car ends or what's in front at low level. I frequently park up, then have to get back into the car to move the car forward as I've misjudged it. Better that than hitting a low metal bar or concrete post. For me, parking sensors or 360 camera would save a lot of time, but with a lower nose on the car it would be easier.

That's why we go for the premium model. Of course, 360° cam and front PDC would be best. On my Cyberster, I can see everything and get the estimated centimeters distance to the next object. That's great. Implementing that in the premium MG4 Urban model would have been great.

Do you find the screen is quite dark when using CarPlay? I’ve just upgraded from the MG3 hybrid and had no issues with the screen brightness, but find myself really struggling to see the CarPlay screen on this new car due to it not being as bright! (And yes I have brightness to 100%).

Thank you for your comprehensive review, I also have the exact same model and colour. Picked it up two days ago, I was worried as my MG3 hybrid was faster on paper, but truth be told I don’t feel like this car is slower, in fact it’s smoother.

nope. if anything i keep brightness quite low as my eyes are sensitive to bright lights and i see no issues on mine

Hello all. Test drove a MG4 Urban on Friday and ordered one (cancelled my order for a BYD Atto 2). Excited to get my first MG and first EV. I like the styling inside, very classy vs Atto tech look. and since it comes with roof rails, I don't need to get another SUV. It was nice driving experience going from an ICE SUV to a small nimble hatchback. Felt like I was in it, driving, not sitting on top of it, steering it. if that makes sense.

I ordered the stone green, kind of difficult to find photos of it online, does anyone here have the stone green version and mind posting a few photos?

i get way more miles from the Urban's 42kWh battery than the SE 51 kWh

i'm visiting Hever castle today, 35% battery left, GoM estimates 79 miles, my journey back will be 60 miles mostly motorway at 65mph, and i know i will make it back without any issues

really!,i know the urban is lighter than the MG4 and was hoping it wasn't to much less but if that's the case i have a decision to make, thank you and good luck with the new car

Point defence cannon? I can see how that would be useful in many circumstances.
Park Distance Control.

Fun fact: In China, they just deliver the successor of the MG4 Urban. With PDC, a/c massage seats and level 2+ automated driving. For $12k. We can't keep up with progress here in Europe.
