The most expensive thing my "inner ten-year-old" has caused me to buy is a pearwood "dream flute" descant recorder finished in cobalt blue and gold. About £100.

Brilliant, my almost 13 yo Granddaughter has just bought a new trumpet. She plays in her Californian school marching band.

That can get expensive. I've so far managed to avoid paying over £1,000 for a musical instrument but you never know...
