Just a heads up for users of a EO Mini Pro 2. Received in an email today 7th July

From 30th November 2025, the Mini Pro 2’s smart functionality (utilising the EO Smart Home App) will be disabled. After this date, your EO Mini Pro 2 will function only as a "plug & play" charger, and you will no longer be able to access or manage it through the EO Smart Home app. All devices will also be automatically unlocked to prevent them being locked permanently.

Due to the EO Mini Pro 2 no longer meeting the necessary smart functionality requirements for sale or replacement in Great Britain, we will no longer be able to provide repair services, replacement parts or software updates for EO Mini Pro 2 devices.

Bumping this back to life as it's the the one I found on a search - feel free to split it off it that's preferable.

I have an EO Mini Pro 2, absolutely fuming they're going to brick it next week. I understand why it doesn't meet modern regs, as they require a secure design, but EO could have released an update with a webinterface to allow local configuration of a timed charge.

However there's a fairly simple solution thanks for some users on SpeakEV, just grab yourself a new 8GB+ Mini SD Card (Less than £20) and you can install a new copy of Pi OS and a custom application located here: GitHub - minceheid/openeo: Cloudless software install for EO Home Hub and Mini Pro 2 EV charger the instructions are step-by-step and anyone should be able to complete them - took me less than 30 mins and that included time spent finding a spare card.

I had purchased a Shelly Mini for splicing into the command line, but a software change is much more elegant and will now be spare for a future project.

Upon opening my EO to change the SD card I found the positive wire that heads to the socket had melted the sheathing due to a bad crimp on the ferrule. Another couple of charges and it would probably irreparable and need replacement a few months outside of warranty - horrendous build quality considering I've used it no more than 50 times in the last 3 years as I charge at work 99% of the time. Thankfully a quick fix for a local sparky who had is sorted in 30mins on a Sunday morning.

New App works fine tested with my MG5 on a manual charge and overnight timed charge. No remote control at the moment, but the guys writing the software will no doubt have something soon.
