ERO went for his 3rd service and first MOT today ... he passed with flying colours. 😎 No software updates though, so still on 1100R38 ... not bothered about this though.

While I was there I asked about service plans ... Arnold Clark's offers are:

2 years - £469
3 years - £589
4 years - £749

I'll have to have a think.

Also while I was there they were saying that a new MG4 ER (77 kWh) is available for £15k off list. So that would put it at around £22k ish?

Same quotes as I got at Arnold Clark Shiremoor. At least they’re consistent.
Did they give you a part exchange price on ERO.

Added info ... last year (2nd service) they commented about the rear brakes (pads and disks) and tried to upsell replacements (because of surface corrosion on the outer section of the outer side of the disks, due to the outer pads not normally sitting flat on the disks because of the poor design); this year (3rd service) there was no such comment - probably because I did several Neutral gear braking and handbrake lever braking stints on the days running up to (and on the day of) the service/MOT. 😎

MG4 refresh (and potential new cheap version) likely to be coming in the spring, so there will be some amazing deals as they run out the old stock.

That's very encouraging. I intend to have my MOT done locally (and switch back to the Conti tyres at the same time, it will be April), and only use a dealer (not the original one!) for things that really have to be done by a dealer. I already had a fatal falling-out with my original dealer over the brakes issue. My local garage says my brakes are fine.

I hope I can get the HVAC issues sorted out at the next service, but other than that I'll keep the car as it is. I reckon it's a pipe dream to get them to sort the remaining two software bugs.

I'd be tempted by an ER, but I really like the SE trim and don't want a Trophy, and I'm keeping Caliban anyway.

My SE SR is due for its 3 years service and MOT in January. Hopefully should be fine. And in a year from then, the 4 yr PCP will be up. I do like the car but not sure about keeping it beyond then because of the lump sum payment.

Caliban's third service was pretty stress-free compared to previous experiences. I went to Central Garage in Galashiels which isn't part of a big chain. Booked over the phone, and when I said I was having the MOT done locally I was advised to check the situation with the suspension in good time so that if necessary it could be dealt with before the car's third birthday. This was much appreciated.

The cost was £147.60, and I can't remember what anyone said was the going rate but even if this was above average it was worth it never to see Macklin/Verve ever again.

Battery SoH came out at 93% which is the same as last year. As I said elsewhere, I am not actually noticing any practical drop in range compared to when the car was new. The rear brake discs were mentioned again, and quotes given for repair - £300 or £420 depending and I can't quite read the writing but it seems to depend on whether it's MG or generic parts. I said I'd see how things went - I really have no idea whether this is any worse than it was a year ago when Macklin/Verve tried to soak me for much more than that, but then wouldn't let me hold on to their quote when I said I needed time to think about it. My local garage will take a look at the brakes again when the tyres get changed in the autumn anyway.
