Just curious why not use the MG4 for longer journeys as the appalling infrastructure around you doesn't matter when on a longer journey as you won't be around you anymore

Exactly. Even in my SR I'm well over 100 miles away before I need to think about charging.

Watched a YouTube video awhile back about a London guy in a similar position with on-street overnight charging. An added bonus for him was the c. 5 min walk to his EV in the morning allowed him to get a bit of fresh air and 'wake up' before he set off for work. A 'smell the roses'-kinda thing...
